Alias game rules – how to play alias

By: Dennis B. B. Taylor

Welcome to Alias!

Alias is an exciting board game where the challenge is to explain words to your teammates without saying the actual word. This game is perfect for parties and larger gatherings, as it can accommodate teams of different sizes. Over the years, Alias has evolved and introduced various fun variations.

Let’s Get Started!

To begin, place the gameboard in the center of the playing area, where everyone can easily reach it. Each team selects a playing piece in their preferred color and puts it on the starting space on the board. Shuffle all the cards and place them face down next to the game board. Choose a player from each team to start the first round. Now, it’s time to begin the game!

How to Play

So, here’s what happens: the first person chosen gets to pick 15 to 20 cards from the deck. Then, the team decides on a number between one and eight, which will be the starting point. Now, when the timer starts, the person with the cards has to try and get their team to guess the words on the cards, but without saying the actual word.

If the team gets the correct answer, the person puts the card down and moves on to the next one. When the sand timer runs out, the other team shouts “stop”. Now, the person moves their game piece forward as many spaces as the number of cards the team guessed right. If they’re still explaining when the time runs out, anyone can score a point. Then, it’s the next team’s turn.

The game keeps going like this until someone reaches the last spot on the board.

The End of the Game

Hey there! Let’s talk about what happens when a team reaches the final spot on the gameboard. This is where the game comes to an end, and we have a winner!

Imagine playing a game. It’s exciting, right? Well, every game has to come to an end at some point. And in this game, when a team reaches that very last spot on the gameboard, they become the winners! How awesome is that?
