Game Objective

The goal of Ticket to Ride: New York is to earn the most points by completing different routes and connecting iconic New York City landmarks together using your taxi cards.

Game Setup

2. Claim a Route: Play a set of transportation cards that match the color and number of taxi spaces of the desired route, then place your taxis on the connected spaces on the game board.
3. Draw Destination Tickets: Draw 3 destination ticket cards, keep at least 1, and discard the rest.

When you claim a route, remember that each taxi space can only contain 1 taxi. If a route is already claimed by another player, you cannot claim it again!

Scoring

3. Complete a Destination Ticket

A Route is like a colorful path on the board that links two neighboring places.

Some places are connected by Double Routes. These are two identical paths that connect the same places. A single player can’t control both paths of a Double Route.

Note: In a game with two players, once one path of a Double Route is controlled, the other player can’t take the other path.

To control a path, you need to get rid of some cards from your hand equal to the number of spaces on that path. Then you’ll put a plastic Taxi on each of those spaces. Most paths require a specific set of cards. For example, you need to discard blue Transportation cards to control a blue path.

However, you can control gray paths with a set of cards of any one color.

If there’s only one Destination Ticket card left in the deck, you can still do this action, but you have to keep the card.

You have to keep Destination Ticket cards and their completion a secret from other players until the end of the game.

The Game is Almost Over!

• Next, I reveal all my Destination Ticket cards. For each completed card, I add up the values and for each incomplete card, I subtract the values.
• Finally, I score one point for each Tourist Attraction that connects to any of the Routes I claimed.

The winner of the game is the player with the most points.

If there’s a tie, the player who completed the most Destination Ticket cards wins. If players are still tied, they are both winners!
