Next to each corresponding board space, place the Title Deed cards.

Well, that’s the end of my turn. But don’t worry, even though I’m stuck in Jail, I can still do a few things. I can collect rent, participate in auctions, buy Hotels, and even make trades. I could also try to catch any cheaters or use some cheat moves if I want to (check out the CHEATING section in the rule book). However, I’m not allowed to play any Chance or Community Chest cards, unless I happen to have a Get Out of Jail Free card.

Is someone else already in jail?

No worries! You can set them free and take their place. If another player is in jail, they’ll hand over the handcuffs and move their token to the Just Visiting space.

How can I escape from jail?

You have four options:

1. Pay M50 on your next turn and then roll the dice to move as usual.
2. If you have a Get Out of Jail Free card, you can use it on your next turn. If you don’t have one, you can buy it from another player. After using the card, put it back at the bottom of the appropriate deck and roll the dice to move.
3. If you roll a double on your next turn, you’re free! Use the roll to move and your turn ends. You have up to three turns to roll a double. If you don’t succeed by the third turn, pay M50 and use your last roll to move.

If someone accuses me of cheating and I know I’m innocent, I can try to show them that I didn’t cheat. If I can prove it, the person who accused me has to give me M100.

If I can’t prove that I didn’t cheat, the other players have to figure out if I really cheated, and then decide on a punishment.

How to Buy Hotels

• Once I have a complete set of colors, I can start buying Hotels. I don’t have to wait until my turn.
• To buy a Hotel, I need to pay the cost listed on the Title Deed card for the Property, and then I can place the Hotel on that Property.
• I can only have one Hotel on each Property.
• Some Cheat, Chance, and Community Chest cards give me the opportunity to buy, move, or place Hotels on Properties that are not part of a complete set.
• If a Cheat, Chance, or Community Chest card tells me to return a Property to the Bank, any Hotels on that Property stay there. When someone else buys that Property from the Bank, they pay the regular price for the Property and receive the Hotel for free!
• I am not allowed to sell Hotels back to the Bank or to other players.

What if I Don’t Have Enough Hotels?

If multiple players want to buy the last Hotel, we have to auction it off. Bids start at M10 and can increase by as little as M10. You can bid regardless of turn order. All payments go directly to the Bank.

Deals & Trades

You can make deals and trades with other players whenever you want. You can buy, sell, or swap Property with them. Property can be exchanged for cash, other Property, and even Get Out of Jail Free cards. The specific amount of the trade will be agreed upon by the players involved.

What should I do if I don’t have enough money?

If you owe money but don’t have enough to pay, there are a few things you can try. One option is to sell your properties.

You can sell your properties back to the Bank at their original value or to another player for an agreed-upon price.

If you have a hotel on one of your properties, you can also sell it back to the Bank for the price of the rent with one hotel, or to another player for an agreed-upon price. Keep in mind that if you sell to another player, the hotel stays where it is. And don’t worry, it’s okay to split up a set of properties.

What if I still owe money?

If you find yourself bankrupt and out of the game, unfortunately, it’s game over for you.

What should I do if I owe money to another player?

In that case, you’ll need to give them all your properties, as well as any Chance and Community Chest cards you have.

What should I do if I owe money to the bank?

As soon as you have any Properties, you need to put them up for auction right away. If someone wants to buy them, they will make a payment to the Bank. You should also return any Chance and Community Chest cards that you have back to the decks at the bottom.

How the Game Ends

The game comes to a close when all the Properties have been bought, and all the players have made it all the way back to the GO space.
