King’s Forge Game Rules
Hey there! Welcome to the exciting world of King’s Forge! Today, I want to chat with you about the rules of this awesome game. It’s super important to understand these rules so you can fully enjoy and immerse yourself in the gameplay. So, let’s dive right in!
First off, let’s talk about the objective of King’s Forge. The main goal here is to become the greatest blacksmith in the kingdom by crafting the mightiest items. You’ll do this by collecting resources, completing quests, and ultimately forging epic creations.
Now, let’s break down the different components and mechanics of the game. Each player starts with a set of dice and a blueprint for an item they want to create. But hold on a sec, you can’t just craft anything you want! You’ll need to gather the necessary resources first.
To do this, you’ll take turns visiting different locations around the kingdom. Some locations offer resources, while others have quests that need to be completed. When you visit a location, you’ll roll your dice to see what resources or quests you’ll encounter. It’s like a luck-based adventure!
Once you’ve collected enough resources for your desired item, it’s time to head to the forge. This is where the magic happens! Roll your dice again and use them to activate different abilities or qualities on your blueprint. The more dice you use, the better chances you have of crafting a powerful item. But be careful, because your opponents can also use the forge to create amazing items, so strategy is key!
Now, let’s talk about the cards. Throughout the game, you’ll come across different cards that can be used to enhance your gameplay. These cards can grant you special abilities, additional resources, or even sabotage your opponents. Keep an eye out for these cards because they can bring a lot of excitement and surprise to the game!
Alright, let’s recap quickly. In King’s Forge, you’ll strive to become the greatest blacksmith by collecting resources, completing quests, and crafting epic items. You’ll visit different locations, roll dice, and use your crafting skills to create powerful creations. Along the way, you’ll encounter cards that can change the course of the game. It’s all about strategy, luck, and a bit of creativity!
So, are you ready to jump into the world of King’s Forge? Grab your dice, prepare your blueprint, and let’s get forging! The kingdom awaits your masterful creations. Enjoy the game and may the anvils be ever in your favor!

In this game, you’ll find the following components:
– 91 dice
– 33 craft cards
– 18 gather cards
– 2 reference cards
– 1 victory card
– 4 dock tiles
– 4 smithy tiles
– 2 Automatic 6 tokens
– 2 +1/+1 tokens
– 1 first player anvil token
– 1 game board
– Rulebook
Now, let’s dive into the rules. When I say “you” or “your,” I’m talking about the player who is taking their turn. Remember, there’s no playing out of turn, and everything is open knowledge – no hidden surprises here!
Keep in mind that all resources in the game are limited. If you want to gain a metal die, but there are none available, tough luck – you won’t get one. You can’t go back and claim it when there’s finally a metal die up for grabs.
Got it? Great! Now, let’s move on to the setup.
Hey there! Let me tell you about this cool game board I have. It’s got slots for cards, places for the dice, and dock locations. If you want to save space, you can also use the dock tiles instead of the game board. Pretty neat, right?

- First things first, I need to choose a cool smithy tile and pick a side as my shop’s mascot.
- Next, I collect 5 metal dice and set them on the table. These dice are gonna be my supply. The rest of the dice go in the stock, which I place in the proper spots on the board.
- Time to shuffle the craft cards. I’ll take some cards off the top of the deck, but how many? Well, that depends on how many players are in the game. Here’s the breakdown:
- 2 players: 9 craft cards
- 3 players: 10 craft cards
- 4 players: 13 craft cards
Once I’ve got the craft cards I need, I’ll sort them from lowest to highest based on the number in the top right corner of each card.
When you play this game, start by placing the 3 cards with the lowest ranks on the spaces on the game board that match their colors. The other cards should be kept in order of their ranks, with their dice icons visible on the right edge, but not placed on the board.

Hi there! Let’s dive right in and talk about a fun game called Gather & Forge. It’s a game where you get to explore different locations and gather resources to build cool things!
So, before we start playing, there are a few things we need to do. First, we need to set up the game board. We have four special cards called North Mine, South Mine, East Forest, and West Forest. These cards are important and we’ll use them in every game. We also have a bunch of other gather cards. Look through them and add 7 random gather cards to the 4 special cards we mentioned earlier. Don’t forget to put the unused cards back in the box. Once we have all 11 gather cards together, we shuffle them and place them on the board.
Now that the game board is set up, we can start playing! The player who built something last gets to go first and they have the first player anvil. How cool is that? The game begins with the gather phase. This is when we explore the locations and collect resources to use later.
And that’s it! Now we’re ready to start playing Gather & Forge. Have fun exploring and building amazing things!
Gather Cards
Collecting cards can be a fun and exciting hobby. For me, it’s a way to escape and immerse myself in a world of imagination and creativity. When I stumble upon a new pack of cards, I can’t help but feel a rush of anticipation and curiosity as I open it up and reveal the treasures within.
Each card tells a unique story, whether it’s a character from a beloved movie or a legendary creature from a far-off fantasy realm. I love the feeling of holding a card in my hand and studying its intricate details and vibrant artwork. The way the colors blend together and the lines form shapes is truly mesmerizing.
But collecting cards isn’t just about the visuals. It’s also about the sense of community that comes with it. When I connect with other card collectors, we can talk for hours about our favorite cards and share our experiences. It’s a shared passion that brings us together and makes us feel a part of something bigger.
Cards can also be a great way to learn. Some cards have historical or educational themes, allowing me to expand my knowledge while having fun. Whether it’s about ancient civilizations or the wonders of the natural world, there’s always something new to discover.
Of course, there’s always the thrill of the hunt. Searching for that rare card or completing a set can be an exhilarating experience. It’s like a treasure hunt, where the reward isn’t always monetary but the satisfaction of finding something special.
So, if you’re looking for a hobby that sparks your imagination, connects you with others, and lets you learn something new along the way, collecting cards might just be the perfect choice for you. Start by exploring different card collections and see which ones capture your interest. Who knows? You might uncover a whole new world of excitement and wonder.

Hey there! Let’s talk about gather cards and how they can help you in your village. Gather cards represent the different shops, merchants, and important locations where you can get resource dice and special abilities.
Now, each gather card has two actions you can take: one at the top of the card and one at the bottom. But remember, you can only choose one action when you claim a gather card.
The little squares you see in each action area on the gather cards represent the dice cost for claiming the card. Each action has its own dice cost, so make sure you have the right dice to claim the card for that specific action.

So, you want to rewrite the text while keeping the HTML markup intact? No problem! Let’s give it a go.

Hey there! Did you know that when it comes to dice, only wood (green) ones are allowed? So, if you’re looking to roll some dice, make sure they’re made of wood!

Oh boy, let me tell you about these gem (red) dice! They’re the only ones I need in my life. I mean, seriously, there’s nothing else like them. No other types of dice can match their uniqueness and beauty. It’s like they were created just for me and my gaming adventures.
When I first discovered gem (red) dice, it was love at first sight. The way they shimmer and sparkle in the light is simply magical. They have this captivating charm that draws you in and makes you unable to resist their allure. And let me tell you, once you start rolling these babies, you’ll never want to stop. They bring a whole new level of excitement and thrill to the game.
But here’s the thing, gem (red) dice aren’t just about aesthetics. They’re also about strategy and skill. You see, these dice have a unique balance and weight that makes them perfect for precision rolling. They give you the control and power to achieve the results you want, whether it’s a critical hit or a lucky roll.
And let’s not forget about the joy of collecting gem (red) dice. It’s like building a treasure trove of gaming greatness. Each dice in your collection tells a story of adventure and victory. It’s a constant reminder of the good times and epic moments you’ve had at the gaming table.
So, if you’re looking to elevate your gaming experience, look no further than gem (red) dice. Trust me, once you try them, you’ll be hooked. They’re the perfect companions for any game and any gamer. So go ahead, roll those gem (red) dice and let the magic begin!

Hey there! Did you know that you can use either the red gem dice or the blue magic dice? It’s pretty cool, right?

Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that if you see dice placed on a square with this cool icon, they’ll be sent back to the stock instead of hanging out on your smithy tile at the end of the round.
Also, any fancy text or icons on a gather card? They’re there to show you some special abilities or actions you can use during the gather and/or craft phases of the round. Pretty cool, huh?

Dice: When you claim specific gather cards, you can identify the dice you’ll receive. The icon will change its color to match the type of dice you’ll get.
REQUIREMENTS KEYWORDS: dice, identify, receive, claim, gather cards, icon, color

Anvil: Every game of King’s Forge includes a card called Anvil. This card is an essential part of the game.

You’ll Get More Dice: When you use this card, the dice you earn will go straight to your collection. They won’t go to your smithy tile like usual.

Dice Flip: Hey there! Have you ever played a game with dice and wished you could change the outcome? Well, guess what? With the dice flip ability, you can do just that! It’s like having a magical power that lets you turn your luck around.
So, here’s how it works. You know those little dots on the faces of dice? They represent numbers, like 1, 2, 3, and so on. When you use the dice flip ability, you can take one or more dice and flip them over to show a different number on top.
Let me give you an example to make it crystal clear. Imagine you have a die with a 1 on top. If you decide to use the dice flip ability on that die, it’s as if you’re saying, “Nope, I don’t want a 1 anymore. I want a 6 instead!” And guess what? When you flip that die, the face that used to show a 1 will now show a 6. It’s like magic!
But wait, there’s more! You can also use the dice flip ability to turn a 2 into a 5, a 3 into a 4, and any other flip you can imagine. It’s your choice, and you’re in control. So go ahead, take those dice in your hands and shape your destiny. With the dice flip ability, you have the power to change the game and make things go your way.

Re-roll: I’m going to tell you about an ability you have in this game called “re-roll”. It’s pretty cool. When you use a card with this ability, you get to roll one or more of your dice again. This can be really helpful if you didn’t get the result you wanted the first time. But there’s a catch – you can only re-roll dice that haven’t been used on a gather or craft card yet. So keep that in mind when you’re deciding which dice to re-roll. It’s a handy ability to have, and it can make a big difference in your strategy. Give it a try and see how it changes your game!

Dice Bonus: When you acquire the gather card, you can add the specified number to one of your dice. Remember, you can only use the bonus once, and only in the round when you got the card.
You can’t carry over the bonus to a future round. If the bonus is 2 or more, you must use it on a single die. You can’t divide the bonus between different dice.
If the gather card gives you multiple dice bonuses, you have to use each bonus on a different die. You can’t combine them to affect one die. However, if you have dice bonuses from different gather cards, you can combine them to use on a single die. Keep in mind that dice bonuses can temporarily increase a die’s value beyond 6.
Claiming Gather Cards
After you claim a gather card, move it in front of you on the table and place the required dice from your supply on the card. Once you use dice on a gather card, you can’t use them for anything else in the same round.

When playing this game, you usually get your dice back from the gather cards at the end of the round. However, there’s a twist! If a box is marked with an “X,” the die you placed on that box isn’t returned to you. Instead, it goes back to the stock at the end of the round.

When it comes to gather cards, not all of them have squares, so you won’t need to spend any dice when choosing those actions. However, you can only select one action from the gather card you claim. It’s important to note that the no-cost action doesn’t give you an extra action.
If you see pictures of dice on a gather card, it means that you’ll be able to acquire new dice by taking the chosen action. These newly acquired dice will be placed on your smithy tile and cannot be used during the current round.
Tokens
In the game, there are two types of tokens that you can acquire. It’s important to remember that tokens must be used in the same round they are acquired and cannot be saved for future rounds.
Hey there! Let me tell you about this cool thing called the silver +1/+1 token. It’s like having a Dice Bonus, but instead of rolling a dice, you get to increase any 2 of your dice by 1 point each. Isn’t that awesome?
Have you ever heard of the gold Automatic 6 token? It’s a pretty cool tool that lets you change the value of one of your dice to a 6. It’s like having a secret weapon up your sleeve!
Craft Cards

I want to talk about craft cards because they’re a really important part of the King’s Forge game. Craft cards represent the items that the King wants you to make in order to prove yourself as a worthy successor to the throne.

When you look at each craft card, you’ll notice a number in the upper right corner. This number is used to sort the craft cards based on their difficulty level. The lower the number, the easier the card is to craft. On the other hand, higher-numbered cards are more difficult and may require resource dice that are harder to obtain.
It’s important to note that this sorting number doesn’t represent victory points or any other scoring mechanic. It’s simply a way to organize the cards according to their crafting difficulty.

Let’s talk about the dice in King’s Forge. The color of the dice spaces on the right edge of a craft card represents the type of resource dice needed to craft the item. Each die space has pips that show the minimum value of each required resource.
So, during the crafting phase, you have to roll dice that match the colors shown on the card. And not only that, the values of your dice must be equal to or greater than the pips shown on the card.
Here’s How the Game Works
In King’s Forge, each round has three phases:
- Gather Phase
- Craft Phase
- Cleanup Phase
Starting with the first player, everyone takes turns in clockwise order, doing all the actions in each phase before moving on to the next one.
Once all the players have finished the cleanup phase, the current round ends. The player with the anvil passes it to the left, and a new round begins.
1. Start Gathering
Let’s dive into the gather phase! First, I’m going to deal 4 gather cards face-up onto the center of the table. Then, it’s time to decide what action I want to take:
- Claim a Gather Card
- Visit a Dock Location
- Pass
If I claim or discard a gather card, I’ll immediately fill the empty space with the next card from the gather deck, and then the next player clockwise will make their action choice. We’ll keep going like this until there are no more face-up gather cards or until all players decide to pass.
Claim a Gather Card
If I want to visit a gather location, I need to make sure I have the right number and types of dice required for one of the two actions listed on the card.
I’ll take the gather card I want and place the necessary dice from my supply on the action I’ve chosen. It’s time to start gathering!
When you choose a gather card, you can only pick one action from it, and the dice you place on the card cannot be used for anything else in this round. It’s important to remember this as you make your decision.
If the action you choose results in getting new resource dice, those dice will be immediately moved from the stock to your smithy tile. However, you cannot use these new dice during the current round.
Keep in mind that the resources in the game are limited. So, when you claim a gather card, you might find that not all the dice granted by the action are available in the stock. You can only take the dice that are currently available. It’s a one-time opportunity, and you can’t come back later to take dice that you couldn’t claim.
If there are more gather cards left in the deck, you will refill the position of the card you claimed by flipping over the top card from the gather deck.
Go to a Dock Location
Hey there! Have you ever been to a dock location? It’s an amazing place where you can find a lot of interesting things to do and see. Let me tell you all about it!
First, let’s talk about why visiting a dock location is such a great idea. When you’re at a dock, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful views of the water. There’s something magical about being near the ocean, lake, or river. The fresh breeze, the sound of the waves, and the gentle swaying of boats in the water create a tranquil atmosphere that can help you relax and unwind.
But it’s not just about the scenery. A dock location offers a range of activities for you to enjoy. If you’re a fishing enthusiast, you can spend your time casting your line into the water and hoping for a big catch. The thrill of reeling in a fish can be incredibly exciting! And even if you’re not into fishing, you can still appreciate the sight of people trying their luck or simply enjoy watching the boats go by.
Dock locations are also popular for water sports. Whether you’re into kayaking, paddleboarding, or jet skiing, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to indulge in your favorite activities. Imagine gliding across the water, feeling the sun on your skin, and experiencing a sense of freedom like no other. It’s an exhilarating feeling that you won’t want to miss!
Furthermore, dock locations often have restaurants and cafes nearby where you can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a refreshing drink. After a day of exploring and having fun, it’s nice to sit back, relax, and savor a delicious meal while taking in the picturesque surroundings. You can also find shops and boutiques where you can browse for unique souvenirs or treat yourself to something special.
So, if you’re looking for a great way to enjoy nature, have fun, and relax, visiting a dock location is a fantastic choice. Whether you’re looking for a solo adventure or planning a day out with friends and family, there’s something for everyone. Just make sure to bring your camera, as you’ll want to capture all the beautiful memories you’re sure to make!
What are you waiting for? Head out to a dock location near you and dive into the wonderful world of waterfront fun. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
There will be times when you need something specific, like a resource or bonus, but none of the gather cards available have what you’re looking for. That’s where the docks come in. They’re a place where you can usually find what you need, but it comes at a price.
To go to the docks, you select a gather card from the center of the table and put it face-down in front of you. If there are no gather cards left, you can’t go to the docks.
Once you’re at the docks, you choose an action that no one else has taken yet. You put the required resource dice from your supply on that action. Everyone can use the actions on the docks, but once someone uses an action, no one else can use it again this round.
So, let’s say you spend 3 dice to get a gem die at the docks. The next person who wants a gem die will have to use the 4-dice action instead.
When I go to the docks, they give me tokens, but I can only use them in that round. If I don’t use them, I lose them at the end. The dice I get from the docks go to my smithy card, just like always.
When it’s time to clean up, any dice I put on the docks go back to the stock.
Pass
If I don’t want to claim a gather card or do a docks action, or if I want to save my dice for later, I can pass. But if I pass, I can’t do anything else in this gather phase. The other players keep playing.
If I’m the first player to pass, I can either take a metal die from the stock or get a +1/+1 token for the crafting phase.
The gather phase finishes either when all players have passed or when there are no more face-up gather cards and at least one player has passed. If there are no face-up gather cards and nobody has passed yet, the next player in line automatically passes and receives the first-to-pass advantage.
Special Rule for 2-Player Games: In a game with only two players, the gather phase ends when both players have passed, or when an empty gather card position cannot be filled from the gather deck, regardless of whether any player has passed.
Now onto the second phase:
The craft phase begins with the first player and continues clockwise from there. Each player gets one chance to craft any of the three items currently shown in the center of the table, or to steal an item crafted by another player earlier in the round.
When it’s my turn to craft, I take all of the unused dice in my supply and give them a roll. I can’t roll the dice that are already on gather cards or dock tiles, and the dice on my smithy tile have to wait until the next round.
Crafting an Item
To craft an item, I need to match my rolled dice by color and value to the dice requirements on one of the three craft cards displayed in the center of the table. The values of my dice must meet or exceed the values shown on the craft card.
If I can find a die that has the right color and value for every square on a craft card, then I’ve successfully crafted that item. I move the craft card in front of me and place my dice on it, so everyone knows I completed it.
So here’s the deal. You know that card you’ve been eyeing? The one that can really turn the tide in your favor? Well, I’ve got some news for you. When it comes to actually claiming that card, you’ll have to wait until the end of the crafting phase. I know, it’s a bit of a bummer, but hey, that’s just how the game works.

Example: When I make my dice rolls during my creative phase, I decide to allocate a die with 3 metal, a die with 3 gems, and a die with 4 gems to one of the three craft items that are available, in this case, the Wizard’s Goblet.
Because I matched each type of die on the card with a corresponding die showing an equal or higher value, I am able to take the Wizard’s Goblet and place it in front of me. This shows that I have successfully crafted the best Wizard’s Goblet.
If the card is still in front of me after all the players have completed their crafting phase, I get to keep the card. I tuck it under my smithy Tile, and this brings me one step closer to victory.
Now that there are only two craft cards left on display, the lowest-ranked craft card from the waiting line should be moved to the center of the table. This means that the item is now available for crafting immediately.
If you have enough dice that match the colors and numbers needed, you can finish more than one task during your turn, including any craft cards that have been moved to the center of the table.
If any of the dice you roll cannot be used to finish a craft card that is on display in the center of the table, you have to place them on your smithy tile and your crafting turn is finished.
Changing Dice Values

If you chose to gather cards with a dice-roll bonus or if you got a +1/+1 or Automatic-6 token from the docks or as a first-to-pass benefit, you have the power to tweak the dice after rolling them. But remember, you can only tweak your own dice, not those of other players.
When you tweak the dice, you physically alter them. For example, if you have a +1 ability and you use it on a die showing a 4, you simply turn the die to display 5.

When it comes to dice in the game, something interesting can happen – they can be manipulated! This means that their values can temporarily go above the usual maximum of 6. If this happens, you need to put another die underneath the boosted die to represent the extra value. Let me give you an example. Let’s say you have a 2-metal die, and you put any other die underneath it. The 2-metal die now counts as an 8-metal die!
Stealing a Craft Card
Now, let’s talk about craft cards. These cards are important, and you want to claim them. However, you can’t claim a craft card right away, even if you fulfill all the requirements. You have to wait until the crafting phase is over. And guess what? While you’re waiting, other players can steal the card from you! How? By crafting a better version of the same item during their turn.
If you want to steal a craft card from another player, there are two things you need to do. First, you need to have enough dice to match or exceed the number of dice the other player already has on the card. But that’s not enough! You also need to have at least one die with a higher value than one of the dice already on the card. Meeting both of these conditions gives you the chance to steal the card.

When I’m playing the game, I have to be strategic and think about which craft cards I want to steal from other players. Take, for example, the Wizard’s Goblet. John made it using a 3-metal, 3-gem, and 4-gem. On my turn, I roll my dice and get a 4-metal, 3-gem, and 4-gem.
Here’s the thing: my dice are at least as good as John’s, and one of my dice (the 4-metal) is even better than his corresponding die (the 3-metal). So, I successfully out-craft John and snatch the Wizard’s Goblet from him. It now sits proudly in front of me.
But here’s the twist: my newly acquired craft card is not completely safe. Another player can still steal it from me if they roll or manipulate their dice just right. Craft cards are like hot potatoes – always changing hands.
So, if I manage to successfully steal a craft card from another player, I take the dice from that card and put them on their smithy tile. Then, I proudly place the stolen craft card in front of me and put my own dice on it.
In this game, strategy is everything. I have to constantly evaluate which craft cards I want to steal, assess the dice I have, and make my moves wisely. The thrill of outsmarting my opponents and claiming their crafted treasures is what keeps me coming back for more.
If I roll my dice and they don’t allow me to craft any of the available cards, my craft turn is over and I have to pass.
There might be situations where I don’t have any dice in my supply when the craft phase starts or the dice I have don’t match the required colors for the available craft cards. In that case, my craft turn is over and I have to pass.
Once all players have either taken a craft turn or passed, the craft phase ends and the cleanup phase begins.
3. Cleanup Phase
The cleanup phase consists of three actions that must be taken in order:
Claim Craft Cards
If I manage to complete one or more craft cards and those cards haven’t been stolen, I move all my dice from the craft cards to my smithy tile.
Here’s what you need to do: Tuck your completed craft cards under your smithy tile so that the rank numbers are visible to other players. This way, they’ll know how many items you have crafted.
Don’t worry, once a craft card is under your smithy tile, it’s safe from being stolen by others. Keep in mind that the game will end when 1 or more players have 4 craft cards under their smithy tile.
Remember: In a 2-player game, the game will end as soon as a player claims 5 or more craft cards.
Time to Get Some Resources

When I’m playing the game, any dice that I’ve placed on the docks and any card squares marked with an “X” are no good to me, so I’ll have to throw them back into the pile. Any dice that I haven’t used yet, as well as any dice still on the gather cards, will go back to my smithy tile, ready for the next round.
Getting Ready for the Next Round
After one round is done, we pass the anvil to the player on our left. They’ll gather all 11 cards, give them a good shuffle, and put them face-down in the middle of the table. Then, we start a new round with the gather phase.
Ending the Game
The game is all wrapped up once we finish a round where at least one player has snagged 4 or more craft cards (or 5 craft cards if there are just 2 players). The player who has crafted the most items by the end of the game is the winner! If 2 or more players have the same number of craft cards, though, the winner will be the one with the craft card that has the highest rank number.
