Rules for the Cat Lady Game
Today, I will discuss the rules for the Cat Lady game. If you’re a fan of cats like me, then this game is perfect for you!
The Cat Lady game is all about taking care of and adopting cats. You will encounter different cats with unique personalities and needs. Your goal is to become the ultimate Cat Lady by adopting as many cats as you can and keeping them happy and healthy.
Step 1: Adoption
First, you’ll need to adopt a cat. You can choose from a variety of cats, each with its own special traits. Take your time and consider the needs and personalities of the cats before making your choice. Remember, you’ll be responsible for their well-being!
Step 2: Care
Once you’ve adopted your furry friend, it’s time to take care of them. Make sure to provide food, water, and a clean litter box. Cats love to play, so don’t forget to give them toys and plenty of attention. Each cat will have specific needs, so pay attention to their individual requirements.
Step 3: Happiness
Happy cats are healthy cats! It’s important to keep your cats happy by fulfilling their needs. This includes providing a comfortable living space, regular playtime, and quality time with you. Keep an eye on their happiness level and make adjustments accordingly.
Step 4: Challenges
The Cat Lady game comes with a set of challenges that you need to overcome. These challenges may include things like illness, bad behavior, or other unexpected events. It’s up to you to handle these challenges and keep your cats safe and happy.
Step 5: Expansion
As you progress in the game, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your cat family. Adopt more cats, and create a loving and harmonious environment for all. Each new cat will bring its own challenges and rewards, adding depth and excitement to your Cat Lady experience.
In conclusion, the Cat Lady game is a fun and engaging way to experience the joy and responsibility of owning cats. By following the rules and giving your furry friends the love and care they deserve, you’ll become the ultimate Cat Lady!
Hey there! Ever wanted to be a cat lady? Well, now you can! In this game, you’ll step into the shoes of a cat lady, joining a prestigious group that includes famous figures like Marie Antoinette and Ernest Hemingway.
As a cat lady, your main objective is to collect all the kitty essentials. You’ll be drafting cards with your fellow cat ladies, choosing three at a time. These cards will give you toys, food, catnip, costumes, and of course, adorable cats!
There’s one catch, though! You need to make sure you have enough food to feed all your furry little friends. If you don’t, they’ll start deducting points from your score. So, keep those hungry cats satisfied!
At the end of the game, the player with the highest total victory points (or VP, as we fancy folks call it) will be crowned the ultimate cat lady champion. Will you be the one to claim that title?
Components
To play Cat Lady, you’ll need the following items:
- 102 Game cards
- 13 Stray cat cards
- 6 Victory point tokens
- 1 Cat token
- 60 Food cubes (20 red, 20 blue, 15 white, 5 purple)
- 1 Rulebook
Setup
- First, mix up the 13 stray cat cards so that they are all face down and form a deck of stray cats.
- The main deck of cards will be used for the game and will have a different number of cards depending on how many players there are. Here’s what to do for each number of players:
- If there are 2 players: Take out all the cards with a number 3 or higher and all the cards with a number 4 in the top right corner. Put these cards back in the box. Then, without looking at them, take 2 more cards and put them back in the box.
- If there are 3 players: Take out all the cards with a number 4 in the top right corner and put them back in the box. Then, without looking at them, take 2 more cards and put them back in the box.
- If there are 4 players: No cards need to be removed.
- Next, shuffle the main deck of cards so that they are all face down. Then, deal 9 cards face up in the center of the table. Arrange them in a 3×3 grid.
- Deal 3 stray cat cards face up off to the side. Place the cat token and all wooden food cubes off to the side
- The player who has the most cats in real life is the starting player and takes the first turn of the game. The player sitting counterclockwise from them takes the cat token and places it next to one of the rows or columns. The starting player is now ready to take the first turn!
- Fed Cats
- Food Penalty
- Score Costumes
- Score Catnip
- Score Toys
- VP Tokens
First, let’s get the game set up.
Let’s Play
After each turn, the player next in line takes their turn. This continues until the game is over.
When it’s your turn, you have the option to choose an entire row or column of three cards from the grid of 3×3 game cards that are face up. But keep in mind, you cannot select a row or column that is next to the cat token. Each type of card has different effects, and you can find detailed explanations about them on the following pages.
After you take the cards, move the cat token next to the row or column that you chose. Then, replace the row or column with three new cards drawn from the main deck, and make sure they are face up.
You are allowed to use Lost Cat and Spray Bottle cards at any time during your turn. Once you play one of these cards, your turn ends, and the next player in clockwise order takes their turn.
Example: It’s Julie’s turn and the cat token is at the bottom row, which means she can’t choose that row (the red arrow).
So, she decides to go for the 3 cards in the leftmost column (the blue arrow).
She grabs a toy mouse and puts it in her hand. Then, she adds Sir Cuddleface, the cat, to her collection in front of her. Finally, she discards a tuna and gets a blue cube in return.
Once Julie takes the cards, the column is filled up again. And since she took cards from the leftmost column, the cat token moves to the top of that column.
The Game Ends
The game comes to an end when there are no more cards left in the deck and an empty row or column needs to be refilled.
If you have the most leftover food after feeding your cats, you will lose 2 VP. If there is a tie for the most leftover food, all players involved will lose 2 VP.
Now it’s time to tally up all your VP from cats, stray cats, costumes, catnip, toys, and VP tokens, taking into account any penalties.
The player with the highest total VP wins the game! If there is a tie for the highest total, the winner is determined by the number of fed cats. If there is still a tie, the winner is the first player to win the next game of Cat Lady.
