Armadora is played by two players who take turns moving pieces and trying to gain control over different territories. The goal of the game is to have the most points at the end by strategically placing your pieces on the board.
The game board is divided into different territories, and each territory has one or more spaces for pieces. On your turn, you can either place a new piece or move an existing piece. When you place a new piece, it has to be adjacent to one of your other pieces and it can’t be placed in a territory that is already controlled by your opponent. But be careful, because your opponent can also play in the same territory as you and take control away from you!
To gain control of a territory, you need to have more pieces in that territory than your opponent. Each piece is worth a certain number of points, and the player with the most points in a territory gains control of it. But here’s the catch: territories can change hands multiple times in a single game, so you always have to be on your toes and adapt your strategy as the game progresses.
The game ends when all of the spaces on the board are filled with pieces. At the end of the game, each player counts up their points and the player with the most points wins! It’s a game of skill, strategy, and a little bit of luck.

What’s in the Box?
The game comes with several components that are essential to play:
- 64 Warrior Tokens: These tokens represent the warriors you’ll use to conquer territories and defend your faction.
- 4 Reinforcement Tokens: These tokens provide additional strength to your warriors during battles.
- 6 Power Tokens: These tokens represent special abilities or resources that can give you an edge in the game.
- 40 Gold Cubes: These cubes represent your faction’s wealth and can be used to purchase new warriors or power-ups.
- 35 Palisades: These tokens can be placed on territories to fortify your defenses and make them harder to conquer.
- 4 Screens: Each player receives a screen to hide their actions and strategy from other players.
- 1 Game Board: The game board is the central playing area where all the action takes place.
- 1 Rulebook: The rulebook contains all the instructions and guidelines you need to play the game.
Getting Started
Here’s how you set up the game:
- Place the Game Board in the middle of the table, making sure it’s easily accessible to all players.
- Each player chooses a faction from the available options: Orc, Goblin, Elf, or Mage. Select the faction that best suits your play style and preferences.
- Each player receives a screen and a specific number of Warrior Tokens, depending on the faction chosen. Refer to the table below for the exact number of tokens:

Hey there! Let’s talk about how we play this game. It’s pretty simple, and I’ll walk you through it step by step.
Game Play
First things first, we take turns playing this game. And when it’s your turn, you can choose to do one of two things:
- Place a Warrior
- Place Palisades
1. Place a Warrior
Alright, so first option – placing a Warrior. You can put one of your Warrior Tokens facedown on any empty square on the board. Just make sure it’s not already occupied by another Warrior or some Gold, okay?
But here’s the thing – at the beginning of the game, you have to decide if you’re allowed to peek at your own face-down Warriors that you’ve already placed. It’s up to you!
2. Place Palisades
Now, let’s move on to the second option – placing Palisades. You can put these around the board to block off certain areas. You have the freedom to place up to two Palisades on any free line between two squares. And here’s the cool part – they don’t have to be next to each other!
Oh, one important rule though – Palisades can’t be placed around the edge of the board. So, keep that in mind! Also, there’s a little restriction: you can’t place a Palisade if it would make a small territory with less than four squares. Gotta keep it fair!
Hey there! Did you know that instead of building two Palisades, you can choose to only place one? It’s pretty cool because you have the option to customize your strategy based on what you think will work best for you.
Also, keep in mind that a single Territory can have multiple Gold Mines or even none at all. It’s a bit like a surprise every time you explore a new place!
Game Over
When you run out of Warriors, you can still build Palisades. And when there are no more Palisades left, you can still deploy Warriors. But if you don’t feel like playing anymore or can’t continue, you have the option to pass.
Once you pass, that’s it for you. The game only ends when all players have passed.
Winning the Game
When the game comes to a close, all Warrior Tokens are revealed to show their values. Add up your points for each Territory. The faction with the highest total in each Territory wins all the Gold Cubes in that Territory.
If there’s a tie, the Gold is divided equally among the tied players. Any leftover Gold that can’t be divided evenly is simply discarded.
When we play the game, we put our Gold in front of us in separate piles. We group them together based on where they came from, which is important if there’s a tie. The person with the most Gold is the winner.
What happens if there’s a tie?
If two or more players have the same amount of Gold, we compare their piles from biggest to smallest.
- If there are two players tied, let’s call them A and B. We compare their biggest piles of Gold. The player with the largest pile wins the game.
- If there are three players tied, let’s call them A, B, and C. First, we compare the biggest piles of Gold from players A and B. If their piles are the same size and bigger than player C’s pile, then player C is out of the game.
Then, we move on to the second largest piles and keep comparing until we have a winner.
