Get ready to play Knock Out Whist!
Knock Out Whist is an exciting game for 2 to 7 players. It’s all about tricks and strategy. Your goal is to either outlast your opponents or win the final trick. Sound simple enough? Let’s dive in!
Getting Started
First things first, let’s set up the game. The dealer is chosen at random, and then the role passes to the player on the left for each new round. Even if a player has been eliminated from the game, they still get to deal before saying goodbye.
Once the dealer is determined, they shuffle the deck and deal the cards. The number of cards dealt depends on the round. In the first round, each player receives 7 cards. As the game progresses, the number of cards dealt decreases by one each round. Finally, in the last round, only one card is dealt. Are you ready to take on the challenge?
When it’s time for the first round, we use the remaining deck of cards to determine the trump suit. We reveal the top card, and whatever suit it is, that becomes the trump suit. In the following rounds, the player who wins the most tricks gets to pick the trump suit for the next round. If there’s a tie for the most tricks, we randomly choose one of the tied players to pick the trumps.
Card Rankings
In Knock Out, we follow the traditional card ranking. The Ace is the highest card, followed by the King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 as the lowest.
How to Play
Hey there! Let’s dive into the exciting world of a card game. It all starts with me sitting to the left of the dealer. I get to choose any card to start the game. Then, the other players must play a card of the same suit if they have one. But if they don’t, they can play any card they want. Here’s the interesting part – the player with the highest trump card wins the round! But if there are no trump cards, the winner is the player with the highest card of the same suit as the first card played. And guess what? The winner gets to collect the trick and lead the next one. How cool is that?
KNOCK OUT
Now, let’s talk about what happens at the end of a round. Some players might get knocked out of the game. If a player didn’t manage to win any tricks in the previous round, they’re out!
So here’s the thing. The first player, or players if they both get kicked at the same time, get something called a dog life. This means they get a card in the next round, and they can play it whenever they want. If they don’t play it, they knock instead. If they win the trick, they play their card and stay in the game. If they lose the trick, they play their card and they’re out.
The first player(s) who would be eliminated get a dog life, after that, if players don’t win any tricks, they get kicked out of the game.
END OF GAME
The game ends when there’s only one player left or when someone wins the last trick. That person is the winner.
