Elevatorup – learn how to play with

By: Dennis B. B. Taylor

Welcome to ElevatorUp!

Hey there! I’m Harrison, and I’m 17 years old. I created ElevatorUp, the coolest card game that brings fun and excitement to the whole family as we navigate through Ups, Downs, and getting Stuck! If you want to know more about Harrison’s back story, just click here.

Let’s Get Started!

1. Place three cards face down in front of each player. Remember, no peeking!

2. Now, place two cards face up in front of each player.

3. Time to deal! Each player gets three cards as their hand. And remember, only you can look at these cards.

4. Place the rest of the cards in the middle of the table and use the space next to it for the discard pile.

5. You have the option to swap out any, or none, of your face-up cards with your face-down cards. Pro tip: Put your best cards face up!

6. Alright, let’s get ready to start playing!

GAMEPLAY

1. Every turn, I have to get rid of a card. The card I discard has to be either a higher floor than the last played card or a special card (I’ll explain those later).

2. If there hasn’t been a card played before, I can discard any card I want.

3. But if I don’t have a higher floor card or a special card, oh boy, I have to pick up the whole discard pile and add it to my hand. Bummer!

4. Once I’ve discarded a card, it’s time to replenish my hand. I’ll grab some cards from the deck in the middle of the table, making sure I always have at least 3 cards in my hand.

5. If you have two or more cards with the same number, you can get rid of them all at once. But, if you have four cards in a row with the same number, then you have to remove the whole pile of cards from the game. The player who played the fourth card gets to take another turn.

6. Keep playing until there are no more cards in the deck and you don’t have any cards left in your hand.

7. When you don’t have any cards left in your hand, you need to use the cards that are face up on the table. Treat these cards just like you would your hand, but keep them visible to the other players.

8. So, you’ve played all your face up cards and now it’s time for the final push. But before you get too excited, don’t look at your face down cards just yet. When it’s your turn, flip a face up card onto the discard pile. Now here’s the catch: if the number on that card is lower than the one previously played, you have to pick up the whole discard pile and make that your new hand. But if the number is higher or if it’s a special card, then you can keep playing as usual.

9. And just like that, the first player who manages to get rid of all their cards is the winner! Congratulations! You did it!

SPECIAL CARDS

But wait, there’s more! We’ve got some special cards with their own unique abilities. Don’t worry about memorizing them all – everything you need to know is printed right on the cards.

PENTHOUSE: This is a powerful card that can be played on top of any other card. It’s the highest floor in the game, so only special cards can be played on top of it.

STUCK: This tricky card can also be played on top of any other card. But here’s the twist – it deflects the effects of the previously played card onto the next player. Talk about turning the tables!

Welcome to Elevator Up: the card game where the stakes are high and the excitement is through the roof!

In this thrilling game, each player takes turns discarding cards from their hand. But beware, because there are a few twists and turns along the way!

Let’s start with the NEW card. This card can be played on top of any other card, and it has a special power. When you play a NEW card, it clears the entire discard pile, giving you a fresh start. Plus, you get to go again! Talk about a game-changer!

Next up, we have the BUILDING card. Just like the NEW card, it can be played on top of any other card. But unlike the NEW card, any card can be played on top of it. It’s like a blank canvas waiting to be filled with excitement!

Then we have the LOBBY card. Similar to the BUILDING card, it can be played on top of any other card. However, any card can also be played on top of the LOBBY card. It’s a card that goes with the flow, allowing for endless possibilities!

Now, let’s talk about the DOOR card. This card is a little different. It can be played on top of any other card, except for other special cards. And when you play a DOOR card, it skips the next player’s turn. It’s a handy card to have up your sleeve when you need a strategic advantage!

So, now you know the basics of Elevator Up. But there’s so much more to discover! If you want to learn more about the game and get your own deck, head to PlayElevatorUp.com. Elevator Up: taking card games to new heights!
