MARVEL LEGENDARY
Hey there! Let’s talk about Marvel Legendary. It’s a pretty cool game that you might enjoy. In Marvel Legendary, you get to play as superheroes and fight against some bad guys. Sounds fun, right?
So, what makes Marvel Legendary so special? Well, for one, it’s a cooperative game. That means you and your friends are all working together to beat the villains. It’s not every day you get to be a superhero and save the world with your pals!
Another awesome thing about Marvel Legendary is that there are lots of heroes to choose from. You’ve got all the big names like Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wolverine, but there are also some lesser-known heroes like Black Widow and Storm. There’s a hero for everyone!
The game also has a ton of different villains to fight against. You might be up against big baddies like Thanos or Doctor Doom, or maybe some smaller villains like Rhino or Mystique. It’s always a surprise who you’ll be facing next!
Now, let’s talk strategy. In Marvel Legendary, you’ll need to use your brain and make some tough decisions. You’ve got to build a deck of cards and use them to defeat the villains. Each hero has their own special abilities, so you’ll have to figure out how to use them to your advantage.
And that’s not all – there are also special cards called “masterminds” that you’ll have to face off against. These guys are super tough, so you’ll need to work together and come up with a plan to take them down.
So, if you’re into superheroes and strategy games, Marvel Legendary is definitely worth checking out. It’s a fun and challenging game that will keep you and your friends entertained for hours. Get ready to save the world and unleash your inner superhero!
In Marvel Legendary, we all have to team up as heroes to defeat the villain before time runs out. Our goal is to beat the villain four times in total to vanquish the evil. As we play, we’ll also be earning victory points. When the game is over and the mastermind is defeated, the player with the most victory points becomes the most legendary hero!
To defeat the villain, we need to strengthen our decks with different heroes. We should also rescue innocent bystanders from the chaos of the fight and collaborate with each other to stop the villain’s schemes.
If we don’t manage to stop the mastermind in time, their scheme will be completed and evil will triumph! All of us heroes will lose, and the mastermind will escape.
SETUP

To get started with Marvel Legendary, first, make sure you have the playing map laid out on a flat surface.
Now, let’s talk about player decks. Each player will have their own deck. The base deck consists of 12 cards, made up of 8 S.H.I.E.L.D agents and 4 S.H.I.E.L.D troopers.
Next, we have the board decks. There are three decks, each with 30 cards. These decks should be added to the game board face-up. The decks are S.H.I.E.L.D officers, Wounds, and Bystanders.
Lastly, we have the scheme deck. Randomly select a mastermind. Take the four tactic cards that go with the mastermind, shuffle them, and place them face-down on the mastermind section of the board. Then, put the mastermind card face-up on top of them.
With everything set up, you’re ready to start playing Marvel Legendary!
First, I’ll choose a scheme card. I’ll place it on the designated space on the board. The scheme card will have instructions for setup, which I’ll follow. It will also specify the number of scheme twist cards needed for the villain deck.
VILLAIN DECK
To create the villain deck, I’ll start by adding all the scheme twist cards. Then, I’ll add 5 master strike cards to the deck. After that, I need to include the villain groups, henchmen, and bystanders. There’s a table in the rule book that tells you how many of each to add based on the number of players.
When adding the villain groups, the first one will always be based on the mastermind card. The other villain groups should be chosen randomly. I’ll make sure to add all 8 cards for each of the chosen villain groups.
Next, I’ll randomly select the henchman groups. I’ll add all 10 cards for each of the henchman groups.
Let’s start by adding the necessary number of bystanders to the deck. Any remaining bystanders will stay on the bystander spot.
Next, we need to shuffle the finished deck and place it on its designated villain deck spot.
HERO DECK
To create the hero deck, we will randomly select 5 heroes (6 if there are five players). Each hero’s deck will contain all 14 of their hero cards. Once we have all the cards, we shuffle the deck and place it on the hero deck spot. Then, we flip 5 hero cards face-up in the HQ spots.
Once the hero deck is complete, each player should shuffle their own deck and draw six cards. The game will begin in a clockwise order, starting from the first player.
HOW TO PLAY MARVEL LEGENDARY

When I’m playing the game, there are three main actions I need to take on my turn. First, I flip over and play the top card from the villain deck. Then, I play cards from my hand to recruit heroes and fight against villains. Finally, I discard any remaining cards in my hand and draw six new cards for my next turn.
Playing from the Villain Deck
When my turn starts, I play the top card from the villain deck. There are four possible outcomes for this card: it could be a villain card, a bystander, a scheme twist, or a master strike.
Villain Card
If the card I played is a villain card, it joins the city! I place the new card in the sewers, which is the space closest to the villain deck. If there are already villains in the city, I move them all to the right before adding the new villain.
When a villain moves past the last city space, they manage to escape. This means they get added to the escaped villain’s pile, and one of the heroes with a cost of 6 or less is knocked out of play and put into the KO pile. In their place, a new hero is revealed.
If the escaped villain had any bystanders with them, each player must discard a card from their hand. If the villain had any special effects that trigger when they escape, those effects happen now.
Lastly, if the new villain has any special ambush effects, they happen immediately.
BYSTANDER
When you draw a card and it turns out to be a bystander, you’ll put that bystander under the villain hiding in the sewers. But if there are no villains in the city, then the bystander goes under the mastermind instead. Those bystanders that are under a villain will move along with them as they roam around the city. Now, here’s where things get interesting. If you manage to defeat either a villain or the mastermind while they have bystanders with them, you get to collect all those bystanders and add them to your victory pile. And guess what? Each bystander is worth a whopping 1 victory point. Isn’t that cool?
SCHEME TWIST
Now, brace yourself for the scheme twist. When you draw a scheme twist card, the twist effect mentioned on the scheme card comes into play. Usually, you’ll move that scheme twist card to the KO pile, unless the scheme says otherwise. But wait, there’s more! Pay special attention when you draw scheme twist 1 or 5/6. Something really interesting may happen. It’s like a little surprise from the folks who designed the game. Exciting, isn’t it?
MASTER STRIKE
And now, the master strike. When you draw a master strike card, things can get tough. You’ll have to perform the effect described on the mastermind card. It’s your time to face the might of the mastermind! Once you’ve dealt with the master strike, you’ll need to put that card in the KO pile. Don’t let it stick around for too long. It’s like a sign that says, “You’ve been through the ultimate challenge!”
PLAYING CARDS FROM MY HAND
Hey there! When I’m playing the game, I have two different kinds of cards in my deck: heroes and wounds. But here’s the deal – wounds don’t count as heroes, and they actually make my deck weaker. Luckily, I’ve got special abilities that allow me to heal those pesky wound cards in my hand.
Now, when it’s my turn to play cards, I can only play one card at a time. I have to make sure that I complete all of the abilities on that card before moving on to the next one. Once I’ve played and finished all the cards I want to play from my hand, I’ll end up with a certain number of recruiting points and attack points.
THE AWESOME POWER OF SUPERHEROES
Did you know that some cards in Marvel Legendary have special abilities that you can activate? In order to activate these abilities, you need to play a card of the same hero class or hero team. If the hero cards have the same hero class, they’ll have a shared icon and border color. And if the hero cards have the same hero team, they’ll have a shared icon in the top left corner.
GETTING NEW HEROES
When you want to get new heroes, you can choose them one at a time. You can pick heroes from the Headquarters (HQ) or from S.H.I.E.L.D officers. To get a hero, you need to have enough recruit points to pay their cost, which you can find in the bottom right of the card. Once you take a hero from the HQ, a new hero card immediately replaces them. If you have enough recruit points, you can get multiple heroes. After you get a hero, you put it into your discard pile.
FIGHTING VILLAINS
To defeat bad guys, you need to have enough power. Look for the number in the bottom right corner of the card to know how much power you need. You can fight one bad guy at a time. When you fight a bad guy, follow the instructions on their card, if there are any. Take away the number of power points from your total. When you defeat a bad guy, put it and any innocent people with it into your victory pile. If you still have enough power, you can fight another bad guy. You can also fight the main bad guy, but we’ll talk about that in more detail later.
GETTING RID OF CARDS AND DRAWING NEW ONES
On my turn, the last thing I do is discard all the cards I played and any remaining cards from my hand. After that, I draw 6 new cards. If I don’t have enough cards to draw the full 6, I shuffle my discard pile to create a new deck. I only shuffle my discard pile when I need to draw a card or reveal a card and I have no cards left in my draw pile.
MASTERMIND
To defeat the mastermind, I have to beat them 4 times. In order to fight the mastermind, I need to have enough attack points. If I do, I will take one random tactics card from under the mastermind and add it to my victory pile, along with any bystanders I have captured. Then, I follow the instructions on the tactics card. I can fight the mastermind multiple times in my turn.

END OF GAME

Once you defeat the mastermind four times, the game is over and every player wins. If you want, you can also have a Final Showdown at the end.
FINAL SHOWDOWN
When the mastermind is defeated, you continue playing as usual. Starting with the next player, the showdown begins. Each player will only play the cards from their hand. Instead of recruiting or fighting, you add up all your recruiting points and attack points to get your showdown score. The player with the highest score gets to keep the mastermind card in their pile of victories.
If there’s a tie, the tied players have another showdown until there’s a winner.
After that, you add up all the points in your victory pile. The player with the most points becomes the most legendary hero.
Playing Solo
When it comes to playing Marvel Legendary by yourself, there are a few adjustments that need to be made to the game and decks. Instead of using just one hero, you will need to choose three heroes for your hero deck. You can ignore the villain group mentioned on the Mastermind card and instead select all villain groups at random. However, there are two schemes that you cannot use: Super Hero Civil War and Negative Zone Prison Break.
For the villain deck, you will need to include the following cards: one random villain group, three henchmen from the same group, one bystander, one master strike, and the number of scheme twists indicated on the scheme card for solo play.
Each time you defeat a scheme twist, you will have to KO (knock out) a hero from the HQ (Headquarters).
If you are victorious in the game, you can calculate your final score by adding up all your victory points. However, you must remember to subtract 4 points for each bystander you did not save, 3 points for each scheme twist that took place, and 1 point for every villain that managed to escape.
