The Fools’ Game Guidelines
Listen up, my friends! I have a little something to share with you. It’s time for the grand unveiling of the fantastic game known as “Dumb Ass.” Intrigued? Well, let me enlighten you on the ins and outs of this amusing activity.
First things first, let’s talk about the objective. The aim of this game is to arrive at the correct answer by deducing it from the given clues. Sounds simple enough, right? But wait, there’s a catch! The catch is that the person who knows the least about the subject matter has the best chance of winning. A paradox that is sure to keep you on your toes!
Now, let’s move on to the gameplay. Don’t worry, I’ve got your back. I’ll guide you through it. Picture this: a deck of question cards awaits you. Each card holds a question accompanied by multiple-choice answers. Your task, dear player, is to choose the most ridiculous-sounding answer, the one that screams “I have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about!” Remember, we’re aiming for foolishness here!
As we embark on this journey of tomfoolery, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. For starters, embrace your ignorance! The less you know, the better your chances. So, don’t fret if you’re not well-versed in a particular subject. In fact, it might just work to your advantage!
Another crucial tip: let your intuition guide you. Sometimes, deep within our nonsensical souls, we hold the keys to absurdity. Trust your gut and let your inner fool shine through. It’s time to unleash your creativity!
But hold on a minute, my dear friends. Before you dive headfirst into the realm of absurdity, remember that this game is all about lightheartedness and laughter. It’s not about mocking intelligence or belittling others. It’s a chance for all of us to embrace our inner foolishness and revel in the joy it brings.
So, what are you waiting for? Gather your friends, unleash your inner fool, and embark on this hilarious adventure called “Dumb Ass.” Trust me, my friends, you’re in for a mind-boggling, rib-tickling experience that will leave you rolling on the floor with laughter. Now go forth and may the fool be with you!

When you play this game, there’s a chance for anyone to come out as the winner, even if they choose the wrong answer. It’s all about progressing around the playing board.
Here’s how it works: I’ll give you a set of four items that seem to go together. Your task is to pick the item that doesn’t really fit and use your answer tokens to choose it.
If you’re the one with the right “wrong” answer, you’ll get to roll the die and move ahead on the board.
What’s in the Box?
- A gameboard
- 400 question cards
- 6 playing pieces and stands
- 24 letter tokens
- 1 die
Getting Started
Okay, here’s the deal. Each of us grabs a set of four-letter tokens: A, B, C, D. Easy so far, right?
Next, we pick a game piece and pop it in a fancy plastic stand right on the starting space. Talk about fancy!
Oh, and don’t forget the questions. We’ve got 4 types: Who, What, Where, and Smart Ass. Make sure each deck of cards is in its spot on the board before we dive in.
What’s the Point?
Alright, folks, this is a race. The goal is to be the first player to make it alllllll the way to “The end” of the game board. Let the games begin!
How to Play
Answering the Questions
Hey there! Did you know that this game has different types of cards? There are four categories: Who, What, Where, and Smartass. Each card has a little clue, followed by four possible answers. Let me explain how they work.
With the Who, What, and Where cards, your goal is to find the Dumb Ass answer. Out of the four choices, you need to pick the one answer that doesn’t belong.
Now, the Smart Ass cards are a bit different. Here, you’re looking for the Smart Ass answer. You’ll have four options, but only one of them is correct according to the clue.
So, how do you play with these cards and move forward?
- The oldest player who’s a Dumb Ass gets to be the Reader and starts the game with a Who question. They’ll grab the first card from the Who deck. It’s important to know that the Reader doesn’t answer the question themselves. They just read it aloud.
- The Reader will read the card, including the clue and the four possible answers.
Every player chooses an answer by placing their letter token face down. Once everyone has answered, the reader tells us to reveal our answers all at once. Then, the reader reads the correct answer out loud. If you have the correct answer, you get to roll the die and move your playing piece according to the number shown. If you’re really quick and can explain why the answer is correct, you even get to move an extra space. But if your answer is wrong, you don’t get penalized, you just can’t move your piece.
If nobody can guess the right answer, I’ll roll the die and move my piece the number of spaces shown on the die.
Play goes on to the left, and the person sitting on the left side of Player 1 becomes the next reader. The color of the space that their piece is on determines the category of card they read.
Now let’s talk about the special spaces on the game board.

Dumb Ass space – Uh-oh! If you land on a Dumb Ass space, you have to move back 2 spaces. Not a great spot to be in!
Rest your Ass space – This is a penalty space. If you land on the Rest your Ass space, you lose a turn and can’t participate in the next round.
If you were supposed to be the reader for the next turn, the game keeps going to the left, skipping over you since you’re resting your ass.
Even after you’ve read and answered a question, you can keep playing. When it’s your turn to be the reader, you can choose a card from any category.
End of the Game
The first person to go all the way around the board and reach “The End” space wins the game! Can you be that person?
