Chutes and Ladders Dora the Explorer Game Rules
Here’s how to play the fun and exciting game of Chutes and Ladders Dora the Explorer Edition.
Setting Up the Game
To start, you’ll need the game board, which represents Dora’s world of adventures. Each player chooses a game piece and places it on the starting square at the bottom of the board.
How to Play
On your turn, roll the dice and move your game piece forward the number of spaces shown on the dice. If you land on a square with a ladder, you get to climb the ladder and move ahead. But if you land on a square with a chute, you have to slide down and move back.
Bonus Cards
During the game, you may come across bonus cards. These cards have special instructions that can help you move ahead or send your opponents back. Follow the instructions on the card to see what happens next.
Reaching the Finish Line
The first player to reach the last square, the finish line, wins the game!
Game Variations
If you want to make the game more challenging or add some extra fun, you can try these variations:
– Play with a time limit: Set a timer and see how many squares you can reach before time runs out.
– Play as a team: Divide players into teams and work together to reach the finish line.
– Create your own rules: Come up with your own special rules to make the game unique and exciting.

What’s in the Box?
- A gameboard
- A spinner
- 4 Dora the Explorer character pawns
- Instructions
How to Win
Your goal is to be the first player to make it to square #100 and reach the Fiesta!
Getting Started
To begin, punch out the spinner board from the paper sheet, removing any excess bits. Then, take the spinner arrow and base out of the plastic runner. Get rid of the plastic waste. Now, follow the instructions in Figure 1 to assemble the spinner.
Getting Started
Let’s set up the gameboard so that everyone can easily move their pawns. First, find a comfortable spot where we can all play. Next, we each need to choose a pawn to play with. If there are any extra pawns, we’ll put them aside for now. Our chosen pawns will start off the board near square #1. And now, we’re all set to have some fun!
Let’s Talk Squares: Check out the game-board. The squares have numbers ranging from 1 to 100. As we play, our pawns will move back and forth on the board, going up from square #1 and moving to the right towards square #10. Then, we’ll continue up to square #11 and move to the left towards square #20, and so on.
Remember, you can also climb ladders to move up and sometimes slide down chutes to go down. But we’ll get to that later.
Playing the Game
First, we all need to spin the spinner. The player with the highest number on the spinner goes first. After that, we take turns going to the left.
What to Do on Your Turn
When it’s your turn, spin the spinner and move your pawn square by square, following the number you spun. For instance, on your first turn, if you spin a 5, you move your pawn to square #5 on the board.
When I move my pawn, my turn is finished. Remember, two or more pawns can occupy the same space simultaneously.
Ascending a ladder or descending a chute
Ladders
If my pawn lands on a picture square at the bottom of a ladder, I must climb up to the picture square at the top of the ladder. For instance, if I end my move on square #21, I can immediately move up to square #42.
See how the pictures on these two squares go together? I save up my money, and then I can get an ice cream cone. It’s a simple cause-and-effect relationship.
Chutes
Now let’s talk about something called “chutes.” If you land on a square at the top of a chute, you have to slide all the way down to the square at the bottom of the chute. Just like in the picture, where Benny’s hot air balloon gets a hole and starts to deflate.

If my pawn ends its turn on any of these spaces, my turn is over:
- A square without a picture
- A square without a picture and only an arrow where a ladder or chute just passes through
- A picture square at the top of a ladder or at the bottom of a chute
The Game Ends
The player who reaches the square numbered 100, called “Fiesta”, first wins the game. There are two ways to get there:
- Land exactly on square 100. If my spin would take me past square 100, I don’t move and try again on my next turn.
- Climb up to square 100 by ending my move on ladder square 80.
