Tips and Tactics in Risk

When it comes to Risk, winning depends on a mix of luck (rolling the dice) and the smart, strategic, and tactical choices you make.

Risk is not a team game, so alliances with other players are always temporary.

• When playing with increasing card values (during trading), try to keep your cards for as long as possible.
• Hold onto your wild cards for as long as possible.
• Even if you’re playing with secret missions, it’s usually better to go for a complete continent first.
• When trying to complete a mission, make sure you don’t draw too much attention to it.
• When defending a country, roll with as many dice as possible, as this increases your chances of defense.
• There are different versions of Risk, so make sure you’re not playing with different rules than others.
• The path to success usually starts in the southern hemisphere.
• In a game with secret missions, don’t focus on the mission too quickly. Only consider it after 4-5 rounds.
