How to Play

Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of Qwirkle Connect? Let me guide you through the game rules! Qwrkle Connect is a fun and challenging board game that can be enjoyed by players of all ages.

The goal of Qwirkle Connect is to score the most points by strategically placing tiles on the game board. To start the game, each player is given a set of tiles. Each tile has a unique combination of one of six shapes and one of six colors.

On your turn, you can either place tiles on the game board or exchange tiles from your hand. When placing tiles, you must follow these rules:

  • You can place tiles horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally.
  • Each tile you play must either have the same color or the same shape as the tiles it is adjacent to.
  • Once a tile has been played, it cannot be moved or removed.
  • You can only play tiles on the game board, not on top of existing tiles.

If you cannot or do not want to play any tiles, you can exchange one or more tiles from your hand. To do this, you must return the same number of tiles to the bag. Keep in mind that exchanging tiles does not earn you any points.

The game continues until all tiles have been played and no more tiles can be exchanged. At this point, the player with the highest score wins the game!

Strategy Tips

If you want to be successful at Qwirkle Connect, here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Look for opportunities to score multiple points with a single move by creating rows or columns of tiles that share both shape and color.
  • Try to plan ahead and save tiles that will allow you to score big points later in the game.
  • Keep an eye on the tiles your opponents are playing and try to block their moves by strategically placing your own tiles.
  • Remember, the game board is constantly changing, so be flexible and adapt your strategy as the game progresses.

Alright, you’re now ready to start your Qwirkle Connect adventure! Gather your friends and family and have a blast playing this engaging and strategic game. May the best Qwirkle player win!

Here’s a different board layout you can try for Qwirkle Connect!

Just put a tile from the deck on each black space.

To begin the game, you’ll place a Qwirkle tile face-up on each of the black spaces.

If you have the most tiles that share one quality, you go first. It doesn’t matter if you have a bigger set of tiles, you can play something smaller. When it’s your turn, you can put your tiles anywhere on the board, as long as they touch a tile that’s already there.

Playing the Game

Playing the game and getting points works the same as in Qwirkle, but there are a couple of differences:

  • The board starts with 24 tiles that you can play with. Just like in Qwirkle, you have to put your tiles in a way that at least one of them touches a tile that’s already on the board.
  • The numbered spaces in Qwirkle are special because they allow you to earn bonus points.
  • If you connect two random Qwirkle tiles on a one-point bonus space, you will score extra points.
  • For two-point bonus spaces, you need to create connections that are further away from the starting tiles in order to earn bonus points.
  • Whenever you place a tile on a numbered space, you add the bonus point(s) to your regular score.
  • Remember, you only score the bonus once, even if the tile is used in multiple lines.
  • Keep in mind that you cannot play off the board.

When I played the game, I scored 5 points by placing my piece in the green circle in the top left corner of the board. I earned 2 points for connecting to the green line, 2 points for connecting to the circle line, and 1 point for landing on the bonus space.

Another player had a different strategy. They placed two diamonds in the top right corner of the board and scored 9 points. They received 3 points for connecting to the diamond line, 2 points for connecting to the orange line, 2 points for connecting to the purple line, and an impressive 2 bonus points for playing on the bonus spaces.
