Rules for the Pass the Pen Game

Let’s talk about the rules for the Pass the Pen game. Have you ever played this fun and exciting game? Well, get ready to have a blast! I’m going to explain how to play, so pay attention.

When the game starts, you’ll sit in a circle with your friends. It’s important to have a pen and a piece of paper for each player. The game is all about drawing, so make sure you have everything you need to be creative!

Are you ready to hear the objective of the game? The goal is simple: you want to be the last person holding the pen when the timer runs out. That’s how you win the game! But be careful, because the pen will be passed from player to player, and you need to pay attention and be quick.

Here’s how it works: one player starts by drawing something on their piece of paper. It can be anything you want – let your imagination run wild! The only rule is that you can’t write any words or numbers. This is a drawing game, after all!

Once the first player finishes their drawing, it’s time to pass the pen. You’ll need to do it quickly, because there’s a timer running, and you don’t want to be caught holding the pen when it stops! Pass the pen to the player sitting next to you, and they’ll continue the drawing on their own paper.

Now, here’s the tricky part: you can only see the drawing from the player who went before you. You can’t see the original drawing that started it all. So, you have to use your imagination and try to continue the drawing based on what you see. It’s like a game of telephone, but with drawings!

As you can imagine, the drawings will get more and more different as the pen is passed around. Each player adds their own twist to the drawing, and the final result is usually quite surprising!

When the timer runs out, everyone stops drawing. Now it’s time for the big reveal! Take turns showing your drawings to the group, and get ready to laugh and be amazed by how the drawings have evolved. It’s always fun to see how a simple picture can change so much in just a few seconds!

Now that you know the rules, it’s time to grab a pen and some paper and start playing Pass the Pen! You’ll have a blast and create some unforgettable memories with your friends. So, what are you waiting for? Let the drawing begin!

Playing the Game

Let’s get started with the game! The first player to go is the oldest one. They will pick a card from the deck and roll the die. The color they roll on the die will determine the challenge they need to complete as described on the card.

When a question mark appears on the die, you can decide which challenge to tackle from the card. Make sure to keep the die visible in front of you throughout the round to remind everyone that you started it.

First things first, to start the timer and get the pen ready for drawing, you need to press the yellow button on the top. Make sure you do this before you begin.

You’ve only got 10 seconds to draw, so you’ll have to work quickly. The pen tip will pull back completely once the time is up.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. The other players will try to figure out what you’re drawing in order to earn points. But remember, they can only give one answer while the timer is running.

Here’s the deal: if a player manages to guess correctly before the time runs out, the round is over. And guess what? Both the player who guessed correctly and you, the artist, will earn the same number of points.

Here’s how points work. The number of points earned is the same as the number of players in the game. So, if there are 6 players, both the player who guessed correctly and you, the artist, will receive 6 points each.

If nobody gets the right answer before the time is up, I pass the drawing and the Pen Timer to the person on my left, and they become the new artist.

The new artist looks at the card, starts the Pen Timer, and keeps drawing on the same picture that I started. If you’ve already drawn, you’re out and can’t guess anymore.

Each round, the amount of points you can earn goes down by 1. So, if there are 6 players, you can only get 5 points in the second round, 4 points in the third round, and so on.

The game keeps going until someone guesses what I’m drawing, or until there’s nobody left to guess.

The person to the left of the one with the dice goes first in the next round.

The Game Comes to an End

When you’ve played 10 cards, that’s when the game comes to an end. It’s that simple! The lucky person who has accumulated the most points throughout the game is declared the winner and wears the crown of victory.

Helpful Hints

  • If you want to speed things up or savor the fun a little longer, you can adjust the number of cards you play.
  • Remember, when it’s your turn, you must build upon the picture that previous artists have already started during the round. Starting a fresh drawing is not allowed.
  • If there are younger players with speedy hands, you can set the Pen Timer to 15 seconds to level the playing field.
