Let’s Learn the Rules of the On the Dot Game!
Hi there! Have you ever played the On the Dot Game before? It’s a super fun and challenging game that will test your spatial skills. Today, I’m going to explain the rules of the game to you, so you can start playing and having a blast!
The On the Dot Game is played with a deck of colored cards and a transparent square board. Each card has four colored dots on it: blue, yellow, green, and red. The board has a grid with 16 squares, and each square has a starting dot in one of the four colors.
Now, let’s get into the gameplay. The goal of the On the Dot Game is to arrange the cards on the board to match a specific pattern. In each round, you’ll draw four cards and try to place them on the board in a way that recreates the given pattern.
You can rotate and flip the cards to fit them into the grid. But be careful, because once you place a card on the board, you can’t move it again. So, you have to think carefully and plan your moves!
The game comes with 60 different challenge cards, each with a unique pattern for you to solve. As you progress through the challenges, they become more difficult, requiring you to think strategically and visualize the best placement for each card.
Remember, there’s no time limit in the On the Dot Game. Take your time to analyze the pattern and decide how to arrange the cards. It’s all about using your spatial reasoning skills and finding the best solution.
So, are you excited to give the On the Dot Game a try? Grab a deck of cards and the transparent board, and start arranging those colorful dots. I guarantee you’ll have a fantastic time challenging yourself and honing your spatial skills!

It’s called Square Overlap, and here’s how it works:
- Arrange four transparent squares in a way that they perfectly match the pattern of dots on a selected pattern card.
- You can play by yourself or compete against others. The choice is yours!
Now, let me walk you through the rules:
- Every single square must be used to duplicate the pattern.
- You can rotate and flip the squares in any direction.
- Make sure all four squares overlap to form a single square.
For example: Your goal is to overlap all four squares and create a single square.

Hey there! Get ready to have a blast being the first player to collect five pattern cards! It’s a race against your opponents to replicate the pattern of dots.
Here’s how it works: shuffle the pattern cards and put them face down in the middle of the playing area. Each player gets a set of four transparent squares with the same color border.
Now, it’s time to reveal the top pattern card! But here’s the twist: there’s no taking turns. It’s a race! You and your opponents have to quickly arrange your squares to match the pattern on the card.
But hold up! You can’t cover or block the face-up pattern card with your squares. Hands off, buddy!
Once you think you’ve cracked the pattern, yell out “On the Dot!” and the game stops. Everyone takes a moment to check your solution and see if all the dots are in the correct order.
If your solution is spot on, you win the pattern card! Put it face down in front of you and get ready for the next round by revealing the next card.
If you get the solution wrong, you’re out for the round while everyone else keeps playing until someone figures out the pattern.
The Game Ends
Keep playing until one player has won five cards.
Variations
Alternate Way to Play
Turn over the same number of pattern cards as there are players. When someone says “Go,” all players race to complete any one of the patterns that are face up.
Once someone solves a pattern, they win the card and turn over a new pattern card. The first player to solve five cards wins.
