Hey there! So, you’re interested in learning how to play Goat Lords, huh? Well, you’ve come to the right place! I’m here to guide you through the exciting rules of this game.
To start off, let’s talk about the setup. First, each player gets a set of Goat Cards, Castle Cards, and a Goat Token. Shuffle the Goat deck and deal each player five cards. Then, place the Castle deck in the middle of the playing area. You’re all set!
Now, let’s dive into the gameplay. The objective of Goat Lords is to be the first player to collect seven Goat Cards. And believe me, it’s not as easy as it sounds! You’ll face challenges, unexpected twists, and epic battles along the way.
On your turn, you have two actions you can choose from. You can either draw a card from the Goat deck or play a Castle Card. Simple, right? But here’s the fun part – there are different types of Castle Cards that can completely shake up the game.
For example, there are Attack Castle Cards that allow you to steal Goats from your opponents, and Defend Castle Cards that protect your Goats from being stolen. You never know what your opponents have up their sleeves, so be prepared!
As you navigate through the game, you’ll encounter different Goat Cards. These cards have special abilities that can give you an advantage or hinder your opponents. Use them strategically to outsmart and outwit your opponents. Remember, every move counts!
But wait, there’s more! Goat Lords introduces an element of surprise with Mystery Goat Cards. These cards can be drawn at any time and can either be helpful or harmful. It’s a risk you’ll have to take, but the rewards can be great.
So, keep an eye on your opponents, be strategic in your moves, and embrace the unpredictable nature of Goat Lords. With its captivating gameplay and interactive twists, you’re in for an exciting adventure.
Now, armed with the knowledge of the rules, it’s time for you to gather your friends and embark on this epic journey of becoming the ultimate Goat Lord. Are you ready to claim victory and reign supreme? Let the goat battles begin!

So here’s the deal – this super fun card game is all about becoming the ultimate Lord of the Goats! And trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds. The key is to gather the biggest herd of goats and reach a whopping 1,000 goat points before anyone else. Are you up for the challenge?
Now, here’s how you do it: you start by stacking pairs of identical goats in front of you. These goats will be the foundation of your goatherd. But hold on tight, because things are about to get goat crazy!
Here’s where the real excitement begins: you can attack your opponents by dueling for their top GOAT PILE. That’s right, you’ll be facing off with other goat herders in epic battles for goat dominance. And if that’s not enough, there are action cards that give you magical goat powers and abilities to outshine your fellow goaters.
Now, every time you win a duel or play a successful action card, the value of your goatherd goes up. This not only makes you more likely to win the game but also puts a target on your back. Your fellow Goaters will be itching to take you down! So, be prepared for some intense goat-on-goat action.

How to Set Up the Game
There are two ways to play Goat Lords: The Simple Version and the Strategic Version. The Strategic Version is explained on the reverse side of these rules.
Alright, let’s get started! Grab the Draw Pile and hand out 4 cards to each player (or 5 if there are only 2-3 players). Keep the rest of the cards face down in the middle – that’s the Draw Pile for later.
Okay, now take the top card from the Draw Pile and turn it face up. This card will be the starting point for the discard pile. Just a heads up, you can’t use a wild card to start the discard pile. Ready? The player on the left of the dealer goes first, and then it’s a clockwise rotation.
Playing the Game
Now it’s time for the fun part! On each turn, you have five choices for what to do:
1. Birth!

Ready for a Unique Birth Experience?
Are you expecting a baby soon? It’s such an exciting time! As an expectant parent, you may have heard about different birthing methods and are probably wondering which one is right for you and your baby.
Let me introduce you to assisted birth. Assisted birth is a method that comes with its own share of questions and concerns, but I’m here to guide you through the process and help you make an informed decision.
So, what exactly is assisted birth? It’s a method where medical professionals provide additional help during the birthing process using tools such as forceps or a vacuum extraction. Yes, it may sound a bit intimidating, but please keep in mind that it can be a necessary procedure in certain situations where labor isn’t progressing as expected.
Assisted birth is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can potentially help prevent complications and ensure the safe delivery of your baby. On the other hand, it involves some risks and should only be undertaken when necessary.
If you and your healthcare provider decide that assisted birth is the best option for you, you’ll be in experienced hands. The medical team will be there to carefully monitor you and your baby throughout the procedure, ensuring that you both are safe and well taken care of.
During an assisted birth, it’s natural to have questions and concerns. Will it be painful? Is it safe for my baby? How long will the recovery take? Remember that these worries are entirely valid, and it’s important to discuss them openly with your healthcare provider. They will provide you with all the information you need to alleviate your concerns and make you feel more at ease.
Ultimately, the goal of assisted birth is to prioritize the health and well-being of both you and your baby. The process may come with its challenges, but it can also bring relief and joy when it leads to a successful delivery.
So, if you’re considering an assisted birth, I encourage you to have an open conversation with your healthcare provider. They will help you understand the benefits and risks associated with this method and guide you in making the best decision for you and your baby.
Remember, no matter the birthing method you choose, what truly matters is a healthy, happy baby and a safe delivery for you. Trust yourself and your healthcare team, and embrace this unique experience!

So, here’s the deal: if I see a card in my hand that matches the top card in the discard pile, I can use it to make a pair on my goatherd. But hold on a second, if the discard pile is empty, we don’t just instantly get more cards. No, no! We wait until someone else discards, and then we can start using those cards again. It’s all about timing, you see.
Showdown!

When it’s time to go head-to-head with your opponent, you have the chance to attack their top goat stack. All you need is a goat card from your hand that matches their top goat, or a wild card. If you have what it takes, you can make the first move.
But be prepared for your opponent’s countermove! They have the option to defend themselves with an identical goat or a wild card. The dueling continues, back and forth, until one of you runs out of cards to play or decides to stop.
What happens at the end of a duel?
- If you’re the attacker and you win, you get to collect all the cards that were involved in the duel. This includes not only your opponent’s top pile but also the cards used in the defense. All of these cards become a new stack in your goatherd!
- If you’re the defender and you win, you get to keep the cards that were used in the duel. You add them to the top of your pile, strengthening your defense.
But before you start dueling, there are a few rules to keep in mind:
- You must have at least one pair of goats in front of you before you can engage in a duel. It’s a requirement.
- A duel can only happen when your opponent has at least two pairs of goats on their stack. The first birth is protected, so you can’t go after it just yet.
How to Play Goat Lords
So you want to play Goat Lords? Well, here’s how you do it.
- The first thing you need to know is that to attack an opponent’s stack, you have to have a goat card in your hand that matches the goats in their top pile. Alternatively, you can use a wild card to attack.
- It’s important to keep in mind that you can only attack the top stack of cards. The stacks below are protected by the top Goat Pile.
Discard!
Restock Your Hand
After every turn, players need to draw cards from the Draw Pile to make sure they have the same number of cards they started with (either 4 or 5). The player who just finished their turn gets to pick first. Remember, you can only restock your hand once your turn is over.
End of the Game
Once the Draw Pile is all used up, we keep on playing until we’ve used up all the cards in our hands.
If there are 5 or more goat cards in the discard pile when the Draw Pile becomes empty, we shuffle the remaining discard pile and keep drawing from it as the Draw Pile.
To calculate the total value of our herd, we add up the points of each goat in our hand. We can play multiple rounds and keep track of our points until one of us reaches 1,000 Goat Points.
If multiple players reach 1,000 points in the same round, the one with the highest score wins.
As an alternative, we can play only one round at a time and the player with the most goat points wins!
