Welcome to Zhao Pengyou!
Zhao Pengyou is an exciting game that combines strategy and trick-taking. You and your team will work together to earn points and level up. The ultimate goal is to reach the Ace level before the opposing team does. Get ready for an epic adventure!
Ready, Set, Go!
Before we dive in, let’s set up the game. First, we need to establish the level and trump suit. To do this, one player will cut the deck and choose a card. We’ll count that many cards in a counterclockwise direction around the table. The player we land on will be the first to draw.
Each player will draw a card, hoping to get a two. When someone draws a level card (a two of any suit), they proudly display it in front of them. This card determines the trump for the current hand.
Now that we have our trump suit, the player who drew the level card becomes the dealer. They will distribute all the cards in the deck, except for the last eight cards, one at a time to each player.
When it’s time to pick your teammates, I, as the leader, will announce a card. Your job is to be the first one to throw down that card, because if you do, you become my teammate and we’ll be the defending team. The rest of the players will form the attacking team.
Alright, now that we have our teams set, it’s time to start the game!
Let the Game Begin!
Here’s how the gameplay works: I, as the leader, will start the first trick, and then we’ll move around the group in a counterclockwise direction. Each player will throw the same number of cards, trying their best to match the suit and pattern that I set. The winner of the trick will be the player who played the highest card in the suit that I led.
You can play single cards or pairs, but if you have cards of the leading suit, you must play them. Pairs can only be beaten by pairs of higher rank. Once all the cards have been played, we’ll tally up the points to see who came out on top.
Did you know that certain cards in a game are worth specific points? For example, fives are worth five points, while tens and kings are worth ten points. Simple, right?
Now, let’s talk about how the teams progress in the game. If the attacking team doesn’t score any points, then the defending team can move up three levels. If the attacking team scores between five and thirty-five points, the defending team moves up two levels. And if the attacking team manages to score between forty and seventy-five points, well, then the defending team only moves up one level.
But wait, it gets more interesting! If the attacking team scores between 120 and 155 points, they move up one level. If they score between 160 and 195 points, they move up two levels. And if they score 200 or more points, they move up a whopping three levels.
Now, the game continues like this until one of the teams reaches the ace level. Once a team passes the ace level, they emerge victorious and win the whole game!
END OF GAME
And there you have it – the game ends when a team manages to pass all the levels, including the ace level. Once this happens, that team is declared the winners!
