The Witch of Salem

Hey there! Let me tell you about an exciting game called “The Witch of Salem”. In this game, we all work together to close the gates in Arkham city and keep the Old One from entering our realm. To win, we need to banish monsters, collect items, and seal the gates. Each one of us has to do their part and hustle to close the gates in time to save the world!

Getting Started

So, here’s what we need to do to set up the game. First, we place the game board in the middle of the playing area. Then, we shuffle the Great Old One cards. Five of those cards go beside the numbered edge around R’lyeh, and the remaining one is placed on the R’lyeh space itself. We also have an overview card that we can keep beside the board so we can all see it easily.

So here’s how it works. We start by picking someone to go first, and it’s totally random. We get a bunch of creature cards and shuffle them up. Then, we put them next to the first player, along with a special card that shows who the starter player is. The event cards also get shuffled, and four of them are set aside. The rest go next to the player on the right of the starter. Now, each player gets their own little figure, eight location cards, a game board, and a handy aid card.

Okay, now pay attention because this part is important. Each player takes their sanity marker and puts it on their own board, right on the six marker. You don’t want to lose your marbles, do you? The Necron marker goes at the start of its own track. Then we shuffle up some portal tiles and put one on each of the spaces numbered one through six on the board. We’ll toss out two of the tiles because we don’t need them. Oh, and don’t forget the items. We put them in a bag and each player draws one, and puts it on their board.

When playing this game, you will need to draw and place three items next to each location. Make sure to put the bag next to the board before starting the game.

HOW TO PLAY

This game is played in three steps during each round. The first step is when the starting player reveals new creatures. If there are two players, one card is revealed. If there are four players, two cards are revealed. And if there are three players, the two players take turns revealing the cards. Each creature card has a matching card in the deck.

If the revealed card is not on the board, it is placed on the empty space next to the witch in a clockwise direction. However, if all the spaces are full, the card is discarded. If the card is already on the board, the creature becomes activated. The effects of the creature apply to all players, so it’s important to read these cards carefully.

When playing the game, we each take turns in a clockwise direction. During our turn, we have a variety of actions we can choose from. We can play a location card and move to a new spot on the board. Alternatively, we can trade items with another player, encounter creatures or shadows, or use an item we already have. Lastly, we can buy new items, paying for them and then receiving them.

There is no limit to how many of these actions we can take, but it’s important to remember that they must be done in a specific order. We can only perform these actions when we move to a new location, and our ability to do so depends on what is available at that spot.

So, here’s how it goes: once we all finish doing what we need to do, it’s time for the final player to reveal the event card on top of the pile. This card tells us how many spaces the Witch of Salem will move. And let me tell you, that Witch can be really helpful if you and I are in the same location.

We need to pay close attention to the instructions on the event card. And don’t worry if we run out of cards in the deck. We can just shuffle them and use them again, but remember to take out four of them first. We only want to play with eight.

Now, when the round is over, the first player gets to start the next round. They’re in charge of picking up two new creature cards and showing them to the rest of us. They always get to be the one to kick things off when a new round begins.

So, that’s it! That’s how the game ends.

Hey there! I’m Ellie, and I’m super excited to tell you about how the game comes to a close. It can end in a bunch of different ways, and it’s pretty interesting. You lose the game if certain things happen, like when there’s only one player left and they can’t close the door. Another way you can lose is if Necron gets to the dimension rift or reaches the demon space before the Great Old One is revealed.

But here’s the cool part: you can actually win the game! The players come out on top if they manage to banish the Great Old One and close all the portals. It’s quite the challenge, but trust me, it’s super satisfying to win.

By the way, I want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Ellie, and I live in Northeast Tennessee. I’m a huge animal lover, and I’m a big fan of fantasy fiction novels. Exploring the great outdoors is another one of my passions. Oh, and did I mention I have an amazing husband who adores me almost as much as our two fluffy pets? I’m really happy to be a part of this awesome community, and I can’t wait to share more fun stuff with you!
