But don’t worry, because you’ll have your adorable Unicorns to keep you company during the game. Who needs friends when you have magical creatures by your side? If you’re ready to add a little bit of magic and mayhem to your gameplay, then read on!

Getting Set Up

Let’s start by preparing the game. First, separate the Baby Unicorn cards and reference cards from the black cards. Then, give the black cards a good shuffle. Once that’s done, deal 5 cards to each player. The deck will go in the middle of the group, face down. Don’t forget to leave some space beside the deck for the discard pile.

First, I need to pick a Baby Unicorn card and place it in my stable. The stable is the area in front of me, where I keep my cards face up. The rest of the Baby Unicorn cards go in a stack called the nursery. They can be in the stable or the nursery.

After that, I can also take a reference card. The player who is wearing the most colors gets to start the game.

How to Play

Every turn has four phases. First, I check my stable. If any of the cards in my stable have special effects, they happen now. Then comes the draw phase, when I draw a card from the black deck.

Now it’s time for my action phase. During this phase, I can choose from five different actions. I can play a Unicorn card, a Magic card, a Downgrade card, an Upgrade card, or I can draw a card from the black deck. Once I’ve completed my action, I’ll need to discard any extra cards in my hand until I have no more than seven.

It’s important to remember that the cards in my hand don’t have any effect until I place them in my stable. Some cards have mandatory effects, so I need to pay close attention to the wording when I play them. If a card says “may,” it means that the effect is optional, and I can choose whether or not to activate it.

When you start your turn in the game, all cards with effects that activate at the beginning of the turn will take effect at the same time. These effects will occur before any other moves are made, and once they are activated, you can’t stop them with instant cards.

The gameplay will then continue in a clockwise direction around the group until one player has collected a total of 7 Unicorns in their stable. This player will be declared the winner of the game!

Types of Cards

Unicorn Cards

Unicorn cards are easy to recognize because they have a horn symbol in the top left corner. These cards will stay in your stable until they are destroyed or sacrificed. There are three different types of Unicorn cards that you can collect.

In the world of Unicorn cards, there are different types to consider. Let’s start with the Baby Unicorn cards. When the game begins, every player gets one of these cards, which they keep in the nursery. To add a Baby Unicorn to your stable, you’ll need a special effect from another card.

Next, there are Unicorn cards with a purple corner. These ones are a bit special. They have no effects, but they might still win your heart!

Then we have Unicorn cards with an indigo corner. These Unicorns, like the purple ones, don’t have any effects, but hey, you might still find them lovable!

Lastly, we have the Unicorn cards with a blue corner. These ones are truly magical! They come with special effects that can give you an advantage as you play the game.

Now let’s talk about Magic cards. These cards are easily recognizable by their green corner and star symbol. Unlike Unicorn cards, Magic cards only have a one-time effect. Once you use them, they go straight to the discard pile.

Lastly, there are Downgrade cards. Would you believe it? These cards have a secret power too! Keep an eye out for them, they’re waiting to surprise you!

So now you know some of the different types of Unicorn cards, as well as the magic and downgrade cards you might come across. Get ready to dive into the world of Unicorns and have an enchanting time!

When it comes to the game of Unstable Unicorns, there are different types of cards you need to know about. Let me explain them to you.

Downgrade Cards

Downgrade cards have a yellow corner with a downward arrow. These cards are not your friend, as they can have negative effects on other players. Once you play a downgrade card on someone’s stable, it stays there until it’s destroyed or sacrificed.

Upgrade Cards

Upgrade cards are easy to spot with their orange corner and upward arrow. These cards are a real game-changer because they give positive effects. The best part is that you can play them in any player’s stable. Just like downgrade cards, upgrade cards stay in the stable until they’re destroyed or sacrificed.

Instant Cards

Now, here’s something special. Instant cards have a red corner with an exclamation point. Unlike other cards, these can be played at any time, not just on your turn. And the best part is, you can chain as many instant cards as you want in a single turn. Talk about a burst of excitement!

The End of the Game

So, how does the game end? Well, it depends on the number of players. If there are 2-5 players, the first person to collect 7 Unicorns wins. If there are 6-8 players, you only need to collect 6 Unicorns to come out on top. And if the deck runs out of cards before anyone reaches the winning number, the player with the most Unicorns wins!
