Welcome to UNO Ultimate Marvel: The Ultimate Collectible Card Game!
Let me introduce you to the amazing world of UNO Ultimate Marvel!
UNO Ultimate Marvel is an incredible collectible card game created by Mattel. What makes it so special is that it’s based on the beloved UNO system. You might be thinking, what’s so different about UNO Ultimate Marvel? Well, here’s the exciting part: it combines all the classic action cards you know and love with a roster of iconic Marvel characters, special powers, formidable enemies, and thrilling events!
When you dive into UNO Ultimate Marvel, get ready for an epic adventure. Each player starts the game with their own character deck and a unique character card. As you play, you’ll face relentless attacks from enemy cards and cunning opponents, all vying to be the first to claim victory. And let me tell you, there are two ways to come out on top in UNO Ultimate: either be the fastest player to empty your hand or be the last one standing with cards still left in your character deck. The choice is yours!
If you’re ready for an even deeper dive, don’t miss the exciting stories hidden within the individual decks of Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Black Panther, and Thor. These decks are jam-packed with exclusive powers and abilities that will amp up the excitement and take your UNO experience to a whole new level!
Curious about what’s inside?
In the box called the “1st Edition,” you’ll find four decks of characters. Each deck has a total of 56 cards. These cards include 47 playing cards, 1 character card, 4 enemy cards, and 4 event cards.
Inside, you’ll also find a blind bag that holds four special foil cards.
Getting Started with UNO Ultimate
Hey there! So, you want to play UNO Ultimate, huh? Well, let me walk you through the setup.
First things first, we’re not shuffling all of the cards together for this game. UNO Ultimate may have some similarities with classic UNO, but trust me, it’s a whole different ball game.
Alright, everyone pick a character deck from the box. But hold up! Before we jump into the action, we need to separate the enemy and event cards from your deck. Keep those aside for now. Oh, and don’t forget to grab the character card that matches your chosen character!
Once each player has selected their character, it’s time to shake things up. Take all of the event and enemy cards, give ’em a good shuffle, and ta-da! You’ve got yourself a Danger Deck. Put it to the side for now.
Alright, let’s get set up. Place your character card face up in front of you on the table. Take your character deck, give it a shuffle, and put it face down next to your character card. Now, let’s deal with your starting hand. Draw seven cards from your character deck, and those will be your opening moves.
Now that everything’s all set up, we’re ready to dive into the world of UNO Ultimate. Get ready for an epic adventure!
Let’s Play!
Alright, it’s time to start the game! The youngest player gets to go first. They’ll place any card face up in the center of the table to create the Central Play Pile. But before we dive in, there are a few important words to know.
ADD
If a player is told to add cards, they have to draw that same number of cards from their character deck and add them to their hand.
DRAW
When someone says it’s time to draw, the player has to take the required number of cards from their character deck. And here’s the bummer, they’ll have to miss their turn.
BURN
When I play the game, I start by burning the necessary cards. This means I take cards from the top of my character deck and put them face-up next to it. This pile is called the Burn Pile. I always burn one card at a time, unless the location is specified. Typically, I burn from my character deck.
But don’t worry, the cards in the Burn Pile can be recovered. I can take the necessary cards one at a time and add them back to my hand.
There are other classic actions in the game too, like Skip, Reverse, and Draw Two. These actions add excitement and strategy to the gameplay.
Now that we understand these keywords, we can continue the game. By default, play passes left at the beginning of the game. However, if a reverse card is played first, play passes right instead. Let’s keep the fun going!
When it’s my turn, here’s what I do:
- First, I deal with any enemy attacks, event cards, action cards, or powers from my opponents.
- Next, I choose a card from my hand to play and activate my character’s power if I can.
- If the card I play pays for the cost of an enemy’s attack, I defeat the enemy and get rid of it.
- If the card I played has a danger symbol, I flip over the next card in the danger deck and deal with its effects.
- Finally, I end my turn by dealing with any effects that happen at the end of the turn.
WHEN I PLAY A CARD
To play a card on the central pile, you have to make sure it matches either in color, number, or symbol. And don’t forget about wild cards – they can be played too! But there’s another option. Instead of playing a card from your hand, you can draw one from your character deck. If the card you draw can be played, you have the choice to either play it or keep it.
But what happens when you don’t have a card that can be played? Well, in that case, you have to draw one card from your character deck. Now, if the card you draw can be played, great! You can go ahead and put it down. But if it can’t be played, you have no choice but to add it to your hand.
Now, here’s a key moment – CALLING UNO!
The game continues just as before. However, when you find yourself with only one card left, it’s crucial to call out UNO. Make sure to do it! Because if you forget, and one of your opponents calls out UNO before the next person’s turn, you’ll have to face a penalty. And that penalty is drawing two cards from your character deck.
THE RISKY CARD COLLECTION
The Risky Card Collection includes all the enemy and event cards found in the game. Every time a card with a danger symbol is played onto the main pile, the Risky Card Collection comes into play. At that point, I flip over the top card from the Risky Card Collection.
ENEMY CARDS
Once an enemy card is revealed, the player who revealed it becomes the target of the enemy’s attack. They take the enemy card and position it face up on top of their character card. If the player is already being attacked by another enemy, the new one replaces the previous one. It’s important to note that this switch doesn’t count as defeating an enemy.
Defeating an enemy in a card game happens when I play a card that meets certain criteria. To defeat an enemy, I have to match one of the eight possible requirements. These requirements include playing a card of a specific color (red, yellow, blue, or green), playing a card with a particular number, playing a wild card, playing an action card, or playing a card with a danger symbol. However, it’s important to note that a wild card cannot be used to defeat an enemy that requires a specific color. So, when it comes to defeating enemies, I need to carefully consider the cards I have in my hand and choose the right one that meets the requirement!
Event Cards
When an event card is shown, its effect takes place right away.
Once all the cards in the Danger Deck are used, mix up the cards in the discard pile and start over.
Introducing Character Cards
Hey there! Let’s talk about character cards and how they can change the game. Each player in our exciting adventure has their very own character card, and guess what? These cards have special powers that can totally rock your world.
Now, here’s the cool part – you get to choose when and how to use your character’s power. It’s like having a secret weapon up your sleeve! But hold on, there’s a catch. If you decide to go all-out and attack some enemies, it might put a damper on your ability to use your special power. Sometimes, you just have to make tough choices.
So, the next time you’re battling it out in the game, don’t forget to check your character card. It might just give you the edge you need to come out on top. Good luck!
WINNING
So here’s the deal: you can win the game in two ways. First, if you manage to get rid of all the cards in your hand, congratulations, you’re the winner! Another way to win is by making your opponents run out of cards in their character deck. It’s like draining their energy until they burn out. Once they burn out, they’re out of the game. If you’re the last player left standing, well, you’re the champ!
CLEANING UP
Once the game is over, it’s time to tidy up. Separate all the cards, sorting them into two groups: the even cards and the enemy cards. Make sure to match them with their respective character symbols and put them back in the right character deck. This way, the next game setup will be a piece of cake!
