Turnover Bridge is a fun card game designed for two players. It’s a game that can be played for money, where each player bets a fixed amount per hand. The goal of the game is to be the first player to win a majority of the tricks and earn the pot.
In this version of the game, each trick you win is worth 1 point. The game is played until one player reaches 100 points. Every round, the deal alternates between the players. The player who reaches 100 points first is the winner. However, if both players reach 100 points in the same round, the player with the highest score at the end of that round takes the game.
Turnover Bridge has some interesting similarities to another game called Blind Don. If you enjoy Turnover Bridge, you should definitely give it a try!
Now, let’s talk about the cards and the deal in Turnover Bridge.
So here’s how the game of Turnover Bridge works: we’ll be using a standard deck of 52 cards. One thing you need to know is that in this game, Spades are always trump. Alright, let’s get started!
First, we’ll shuffle the deck and deal 12 cards to each player face down. Each player will have their own row of cards. Once that’s done, we’ll deal 12 more cards face up on top of the ones we just dealt. This means there will be two rows of cards for each player. Then, we’ll give each player 2 more cards, which will be their secret hand.
All the face up cards and the two cards in each player’s hand can be used to play the trick. This is where the fun begins!
IT’S TIME TO PLAY
When we play Turnover Bridge, the game starts with the non-dealer leading the first trick. They can play any card from their hand or face-up row. The other player must follow suit if they can, using cards from their hand. But if they don’t have a card of the lead suit, they can play any card they want. The trick is won by the highest-ranking card of the lead suit or the highest Spade. The player who wins the trick gets to lead the next one.
If a face-down card is revealed at any point, it must be flipped over after the trick is complete and can then be played. This goes on until one of the players has won 14 tricks. Once a player has the majority of tricks, the round is over.
