Welcome to Tien Len!
Tien Len is a fun and exciting card game from Vietnam. The objective of the game is to get rid of all your cards before anyone else. To do this, you’ll need to outsmart your opponents and play the right combinations of cards. Are you ready to show off your strategy skills and win the game?
Tien Len can be played with different rule variations, allowing for longer games and more players to join in on the fun.
Getting Set Up
To start playing, you’ll need a group of players. The first dealer is chosen randomly, and for the following rounds, the loser of the previous round becomes the dealer. The dealer will then deal thirteen cards to each player. The rest of the cards can be set aside, as they won’t be needed for the game.
Understanding Card Rankings
Hey there! Let me break down the card rankings for you. It goes like this: the highest cards are the 2s, Aces, Kings, Queens, Jacks, 10s, 9s, 8s, 7s, 6s, 5s, 4s, and 3s. And when it comes to suits, the order goes from highest to lowest: Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, and Spades.
GAMEPLAY
Now, in the very first game, the person holding the three of Spades gets to go first. If nobody has that card, then the player with the lowest card will kick things off with their card. After that, it’s all about trying to beat the card that was just played, or you can choose to pass.
Okay, here’s what happens next. The game continues until someone plays a card or a combination that no one else can beat. That person wins the round and gets to start the next one. When a player runs out of cards, they’re out of the game. The rounds keep going until there’s only one person left with cards in hand.
Legal Combinations
There are several types of card combinations in this game:
A single card is any card between the Three of Spades and the Two of Hearts.
A pair is two cards that have the same rank.
A triple is three cards that have the same rank.
A four of a kind is four cards that have the same rank.
A sequence is three or more cards that are in numerical order.
A double sequence is three or more pairs that are in numerical order.
In this game, stronger combinations can only be beaten by even stronger combinations.
END OF GAME
The game continues until there is only one player left with cards. That player is the loser. The first player to get rid of all their cards is the winner!
