When it comes to poker games, Tic Tac Toe is a popular choice for gatherings at home rather than in fancy casinos. To start the game, each player puts in some money before the cards are dealt, and the betting begins with the person on the left side of the dealer.
THE DEAL
The dealer hands out two cards face-down to each player. Then they deal 9 cards in a 3×3 grid on the table, also face-down. When it’s time to reveal the hands, players can pick any row (such as 8-1-5, 4-9-2, 7-3-6), column (like 1-9-3, 5-2-6, 8-4-7), or diagonal (for example, 8-9-6, 5-9-7) to make a 5-card hand for themselves.
In some versions of the game, players receive four cards instead of two. These players then select two cards to combine with a row, column, or diagonal from the table. Alternatively, they can use between 4 and 2 of their own cards along with 1, 2, or 3 cards from the table. These cards can be chosen from any row, column, or diagonal on the table.
The nines are special cards in this game. They can be played as wild cards, meaning they can substitute for any other card in the deck, including other nines. It adds an element of unpredictability and excitement to the game.
THE BIG REVEAL
In this game, the cards are revealed in a specific order. However, revealing them all at once would result in a lot of betting rounds, which can be time-consuming. To make it more efficient, players usually group the cards in the reveal. For example, they might choose to reveal cards 1-4 first, followed by a round of betting. Then they can reveal cards 5-8 and continue with another round of betting. Finally, they reveal the ninth card and have a third round of betting before the showdown.
Players have the freedom to reveal the cards in different ways. They can reveal them by rows, columns, or any other mechanism that the players agree upon. The goal is to make the game more exciting and enjoyable for everyone involved.
After the final reveal, it’s time for the showdown. The player with the highest-ranking hand wins the pot and emerges victorious.
