We’ve Got Ourselves A Murder!
A Sneak Peak At We’ve Got Ourselves A Murder
Hey there! Get ready to put those detective skills to the test as we dive into an immersive murder mystery that takes place in a quaint country house during the 1930s. Our mission? Work together to crack the case wide open! But be warned, this won’t be a walk in the park. With countless suspects and more questions than answers, it’s anyone’s guess whodunit. It seems like everyone’s got something to say, yet nobody wants to spill the beans. Can we catch the culprit red-handed, or will they manage to give us the slip? The clock is ticking, and the fate of the investigation rests in our hands. Time to roll up our sleeves and get sleuthing!
Getting Started
To set up the game, first, I remove the Murderer and the Detective cards from the deck. Then, I shuffle all the remaining cards and place one face down in the center of the playing area. Remember, we’re not allowed to look at this card for the rest of the game. Next, I split the deck into two halves. I shuffle the Murderer card into one half and the Detective card into the other.
I deal two cards to each player. Then, I place the deck face down in the center of the playing area, within everyone’s reach. Make sure there’s enough space next to the deck for the discard pile. Finally, the player who most recently watched or read a murder mystery becomes the first player.
Now, we’re ready to start the game.
How to Play
Let’s talk about how the game works!
First, it’s important to understand that each player takes a turn. We start with the starting player and go around the group in a leftward direction. The game continues until someone wins or loses. Sounds exciting, right?
Okay, now let’s break down a turn into two phases: the draw phase and the play phase.
In the draw phase, players add cards to their hand. This happens only if a player has fewer than two cards in their hand. If that’s the case, they draw enough cards from the deck to bring their hand total to two. If a player already has two cards, they skip this phase and move on to the play phase. It’s all about keeping those hands full!
When we enter the play phase, it’s time to play our cards. Each of us will take turns playing one card at a time. We put our cards in the middle of the table in a pile. This pile is called the discard pile for the entire game. You can take a look at the discard pile if you want to, but remember, it’s the same pile we’ll be using throughout the game. The order in which we play our cards should stay the same, and we should never look through the deck of cards we draw from.
During the play phase, we’re not allowed to talk about the cards we’ve seen or the cards we have in our hands.
THE FINAL OUTCOME
Finally, we reach the climax of the game – the moment when everything is decided. Here, there are only two possible outcomes: victory or defeat. Whichever one it is, we experience it together as a team. If luck is on our side and the Detective card is played, we can turn the tables and triumph by identifying the player who possesses the Murderer card. But there’s a twist – victory can also be ours if the Murderer card somehow ends up in the hands of the player with the Confidant card.
On the other hand, failure awaits us if the player holding the Witness card ends up receiving the dreaded Murder card. It’s a devastating blow that guarantees defeat. Another path to loss is if one of us finds ourselves unable to draw from the draw deck and replenish our hand. It’s like hitting a roadblock that leads to disappointment.
