Meet The Sandwich Guy!

Hey there! Have you heard about The Sandwich Guy? It’s a cool solitaire rummy game created by Wil Su in 2021.

In this game, I’m going to show you how to build special three-card melds where the middle card is the same distance from the outer cards. Trust me, it’s going to be fun!

The Cards and the Deal

First things first, let’s talk about the cards. We’re using a standard 52-card deck. Give it a good shuffle and place it face down in front of you on the table. Now, draw 8 cards from the deck to form your hand.

How to Play

Build Sandwiches

Now, let’s get to the exciting part – building sandwiches! The goal is to create special melds with three cards, where the middle card is the same distance from the outer two cards. It’s like putting together the perfect sandwich!

After each meld, you’ll need to draw cards to refill your hand. But hang on – not all draws are the same. The number of cards you get to draw depends on the quality of the meld you create. So, be strategic and think carefully!

Remember, The Sandwich Guy is all about creating those perfect melds and making the most of your draws. It’s a game that will challenge your skills and keep you entertained. So, grab a deck of cards, get ready to build some tasty sandwiches, and let’s play The Sandwich Guy!

When you’re playing the game, your goal is to make sandwiches, or melds, with three cards. To make a sandwich, the meat card, which is in the middle, must be the same distance from the two outside cards, or buns. Remember, Jacks are worth 11, Queens are 12, and Kings are 13. The three cards in the sandwich must also be in ascending order, except for a special type of sandwich called a “corner sandwich.”

Let me give you some examples to better understand sandwiches. A sandwich could be made up of a 4, 7, and 10, with the 7 being the meat. In this case, the meat is three cards away from each bun. Another example is a sandwich with three 5’s, which is a good sandwich because the meat is right next to each bun. However, a sandwich with a 5, 10, and 2 is a special corner sandwich, because the 10 is five cards away from each bun.

Once you’ve made a sandwich, you place it on the discard pile. Remember, you can only make one sandwich per turn, using three cards.

DRAW CARDS

How you draw cards is determined by the type of sandwich you’ve made.

When you play this card game, there are a few important rules to keep in mind. If all three cards that you draw are of the same suit, you’ll need to draw four more cards. But if you have three cards of different suits, but they are all the same color, then you’ll only need to draw three more cards. And if you have a sandwich of cards that are of different colors and suits, you can draw two more cards.

However, there is a limit to how many cards you can have in your hand. You can’t have more than eight cards. So, if a sandwich allows you to draw a ninth card, you should ignore it and not draw any more.

The game continues until you either draw the last card from the draw pile or you can no longer make a sandwich. If you reach the point where you can’t make a sandwich before the last card is drawn, then you lose the game.

SCORING

Once you have drawn the final card, try to make as many sandwiches as you can. The cards that are left in your hand after making the final sandwich will be your score. If you only have one card left in your hand, that means you’ve achieved a perfect game.

WINNING

The ultimate goal is to draw the final card from the draw pile. If you manage to do that, you win the game. And if you have only one card left in your hand, that’s also considered a perfect game.
