TEMPLE RAIDER BOARD GAME RULES
I can’t wait to share the awesome rules of Temple Raider, a thrilling board game that will transport you to mysterious ancient temples! Get ready for an action-packed adventure as you navigate treacherous pathways, solve tricky puzzles, and unearth hidden treasures. Let’s dive right in!
1.
Setting up the game
To start the game, assemble the game board by connecting the temple tiles according to the layout diagram. Each player chooses a character and places it on the starting space. Shuffle the treasure cards and place them facedown in a stack. Then, shuffle the relic cards and deal two to each player.
2.
Playing the game
The goal of the game is to be the first player to collect three treasure cards. On your turn, roll the dice and move your character along the pathways. You can move in any direction, but you can’t backtrack on the same turn.
As you explore the temple, you may come across relics. Relics are powerful artifacts that can give you special abilities, such as moving extra spaces or blocking other players. Use these abilities strategically to gain an advantage over your opponents.
When you reach a room, you can choose to reveal a treasure card. If it matches one of the treasures you need, you can keep it. Otherwise, discard it.
3.
Puzzles and challenges
Throughout the game, you’ll encounter various challenges and puzzles that must be solved to progress. These puzzles may require you to roll a certain number on the dice, answer a riddle, or figure out a pattern. Use your wits and creativity to overcome these obstacles and continue your journey.
Be careful, though! Some rooms may have traps that can hinder your progress or even send you back to the starting space. Stay alert and think strategically to avoid these pitfalls.
4.
Winning the game
The first player to collect three treasure cards successfully wins the game. But remember, the temple is constantly shifting and changing, so be prepared for unexpected twists and turns. Adapt your strategy as you go and use your resources wisely to outsmart your opponents.
Good luck, brave adventurers! May the ancient gods of the temple be on your side as you embark on this thrilling quest. Enjoy Temple Raider and have a fantastic time exploring the mysteries of the ancient world!
Welcome to Temple Raider, a thrilling board game that combines dice rolling and racing. In this game, the goal is simple: be the first player to safely retrieve all of your relics from the treacherous temple. Are you ready for an epic adventure?
On your turn, you’ll roll the dice and strategically choose which relics to move or activate. Use your cunning to create the perfect strategy. Do you want to collect as many relics as possible in your storage room, or place them on your altar for extra power? The choice is yours.
Your powers don’t end there, though. Once you’ve collected your relics, you can unleash even more powers to manipulate the dice or speed up your relic movements. This can give you a huge advantage over your opponents, so use them wisely.
The temple is filled with danger and excitement, and each turn brings new surprises. Will you be able to navigate through its treacherous halls and claim victory? Only time will tell.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
The plastic temple centerpiece is the heart of the game. It’s where all the action happens! As each player sets up their playspace, they’ll also get their own set of sixteen power cards. And don’t forget the relics! There are forty in total, with ten designated for each player.
Before we get started, we need to talk about the dice. You’ll need five of them, but depending on how many players there are, you’ll use a different number. I’ll explain more about that later.
SETUP
When you’re setting up the game, start by placing the temple right in the middle of the playing area. Each player gets their own player board, set of relics, and power cards. Make sure to connect the player board to the temple. Place the relics on the top row of each player’s starting area. Shuffle your deck of power cards and put them next to your player board. Draw three cards and place them at the bottom of your player board where the power cards go.
If you’re playing with two players, you’ll need the three dice with white numbers. For a three player game, add the dice with yellow numbers. And if you’re playing with four players, you’ll include the dice with red numbers.
Let’s determine who goes first. We can do that by rolling a die. The person who gets the highest number will start the game. From there, we’ll take turns clockwise around the table. The player who is going second will begin with their #2 relic down one step. As for player 3, they’ll start with their #4 relic down one step. And if there happens to be a fourth player, they’ll begin with their #6 relic down one step.
Now, Let’s Play!
When it’s your turn, roll all the dice that are being used for the game. Once you’ve rolled, choose two of the dice and place them on your platform. These chosen dice will determine how you move the relics on your side of the temple. You have the option to use each die separately or to combine them to move the relic that matches the total of the two dice. So, for example, if you select a 4 and a 5, you can either move the #4 relic and the #5 relic individually, or you can combine them to move the #9 relic.
Instead of moving an old object, you can use the dice to activate a special card from your player board. You have to roll a number on the die that matches the power card you want to use. You have several options: move two old objects, use two power cards, move one old object and use one power card, combine the dice to move one old object, or combine the dice to use one power card.
After the player finishes their turn, the other players will take turns choosing dice from the ones that are left. The player sitting to the left of the player who just finished their turn gets to pick one of the remaining dice. They can use it to move an old object or activate a power card. This process continues until all the dice have been chosen.
WILDS
When you combine two dice and get a total of 11 or 12, those dice become wild. This means you can choose any relic to move down one step. However, it’s important to note that you cannot activate a power card using an 11 or 12.
ERUPTIONS
Whenever you pick two dice with lava icons on them, an eruption occurs. It’s like a burst of energy! The player who caused the eruption can choose one relic that is on a lava space and move it back up one step towards the top of the temple. It’s pretty powerful! Be careful though, power cards can also cause eruptions. If you have a double eruption, you can move two relics. And if you have a triple eruption, you get to move three relics. But remember, you can’t move a relic if there’s another relic right behind it.
RESUPPLY
When I can’t or don’t want to move any relics or use any power cards on my turn, I have the option to move one relic from the camp area of my player board to the storage room. Alternatively, I can move one relic that is left on the step if the space is empty.
GETTING RID OF RELICS
When a relic moves its last step off the temple, it escapes. When this happens, I place that relic in the altar room, storage room, or camp on my player board.
If my storage room is full, I also get to move my smallest relic down one step when a wild is activated. My smallest relic is the one in the space with the smallest value. Moving a relic from my storage room to camp lets me add 1 to a single die that I have chosen.
