Welcome to the World of Sueca!

Hey there! Have you ever heard of Sueca? It’s an exciting card game that’s super popular in Portugal. It’s perfect for when you’re hanging out with friends or family, and it’s all about strategy and tricks. Plus, it won’t take up too much time, so you’ll have plenty of fun without being stuck at the table for ages!

Getting Started

Before we dive into the game, let’s talk about the setup. First things first, grab a standard deck of cards and remove all the eights, nines, and tens. Then, gather four players and split them into two teams, with each team having two players. Make sure that teammates sit across from each other at the table. Now, it’s time to choose a dealer and a scorekeeper. The dealer will let the player on their right shuffle the cards, and then the dealing will begin. Oh, and each player gets ten cards to start with.

Here’s a neat trick: the card at the bottom of the deck will determine the trump suit for the round. And just like that, we’re ready to kick off the game!

Time to Play!

When we play the card game, the first trick is led by the player on the dealer’s right. Then, the next player must try to play a card of the same suit if they have one. The trick is won by the highest-ranking trump card. The cards are ranked in descending order, starting from ace, seven, King, Jack, Queen, six, five, four, three, and then two.

We keep playing until all the cards have been used. If a player doesn’t have a card of the same suit, they can play any card. Once the round is over, we add up the points with our teammates. If we score over sixty points, we get one game point. But if we manage to score more than ninety-one points, we earn two game points. And if we win every trick, we win the whole game!

Here’s how many points each card is worth:

Seven: 10 points

Six through two: No points

When does the game end?

The game ends when a team has won four game points. At that moment, they are declared the winners! Now, let’s play!
