Welcome to the enchanting world of Sleeping Queens!
Once upon a time, the Beetle Princess, the Cat Princess, the Moon Princess, and their friends were all under a powerful spell, trapped in a deep sleep. But fear not! You have the chance to awaken these sleeping beauties and emerge victorious!
In order to triumph in this game, you’ll need to use your cunning, your memory, and a pinch of luck. But be on your guard, as cunning knights will try to steal your princesses, and pesky potions could send them back to dreamland!
Here’s how to play Sleeping Queens:
First, gather all 12 princess cards and shuffle them, making sure they’re all face down. Now, place these cards in neat columns of 3, still face down, leaving a space in the center.
With that done, take the remaining cards (the ones with red backs) and shuffle them as well, face down. This stack will become the draw pile. Give each player 5 cards from this draw pile. Finally, position the draw pile in the center, between the columns of lovely princesses.
HOW TO PLAY SLEEPING QUEENS
There are 12 princesses sleeping on the table, all face down. Each of them holds 5 cards in their hand. I start the game because I’m sitting to the left of the dealer. Each player takes turns performing actions and then replenishes their hand with new cards.
What can I do?
– If I have a prince card, I can play it. The prince is the hero who wakes up the sleeping beauty. When I play a prince, I choose one of the princesses and place her face up in front of me. Not only does she wake up, but she also earns me points based on her card.
– If I don’t have a prince card, I can play a knight instead. The knight is a brave warrior who can steal an awakened princess from an opponent’s house. I play my knight and bring the princess to my side, ready to be used on my next turn.
Let me tell you about the dragons. They’re like guardians for our princesses. When we play as a dragon, we’re protecting the princesses from reckless knights. To start the game, both players get a card to add to their hand.
Now, imagine a noisy castle filled with awake princesses. That’s not good. So, we use a potion to send one of our opponent’s princesses back to sleep. The potion card goes back to the center of the table, face down.
But what if our opponent tries to counter our potion with a magic wand? Well, that’s where things get interesting. A magic wand can nullify a potion, just like a parry in a sword fight. Again, both players get a card added to their hand when this happens.
Hey there! Want to play a game? It’s called “Playing the Jester,” and it’s loads of fun! Let me explain how it works.
First, we’ll start by revealing the first card from the deck. If it’s a power card, you get to keep it and play again. But if it’s a card with a number, things get really interesting!
With a numbered card, you count starting from yourself and go clockwise until you reach that card’s number. The player who lands on that number can wake up a princess and place her face-up in front of them. Cool, right?
Now, let’s talk about the “Discard” move. This move gives you the chance to draw new cards. Take a look at your options:
- If you want, you can discard any card and draw a new one. Simple!
- If you have a pair of cards that you don’t need, you can discard them both and draw two fresh ones. Easy peasy!
- But here’s where it gets really interesting: if you have three or more cards that, when you add them together, equal another card in the deck, you can discard all of them and draw that same number of new cards. For example, if you have a 2, a 3, and a 5, you can get rid of them and draw three new cards. Pretty neat, huh?
So, what do you say? Ready to have fun as the jester and take your chances? Let’s go and wake up some princesses!
How to Win
So, you want to know how to come out on top in this game, huh? Well, it all comes down to a few key things, my friend. Let me break it down for you.
First off, the game will keep going until one of the players does one of two things: wakes up four princesses or racks up a cool 40 points (if there’s only two or three of you), or wakes up five princesses or hits a grand total of 50 points (if there’s four or five of you). That’s the finish line, my friend.
But wait, there’s more! The game can also come to a grinding halt if there are no more princesses left in the center of the table. In that case, the player with the most points snags the crown and is declared the ultimate victor.
So, there you have it – the road to glory paved with princesses and points. Now all that’s left to do is get out there and claim your victory. Good luck, my friend, and may the princesses be ever in your favor!

Royal Whims
Some princesses possess magical abilities while they are conscious.
- Princess Rose holds the power to awaken another princess when she herself wakes up (except when a knight captures her).
- Dog and Cat princesses simply cannot stand each other! You can never have both of them simultaneously in front of you. If you awaken one of them, you must place the other one back with the other slumbering princesses, facedown.
