Get Ready to Play Schrum Schrum!
Hey there! Have you heard of Schrum Schrum? It’s a super fun card game that’s perfect for kids. You can play with either 2 or 4 players, and the goal is to get rid of all your cards as quickly as you can. But watch out – you can also add cards to your opponents’ discard piles!
Let’s Talk About the Cards and How to Deal Them
In Schrum Schrum, we use a special deck of cards. We take out the 2’s through 6’s, so you won’t see any of those. And in this game, Aces are considered to be low.
To decide who will be the first dealer, we can have each player pick a card from the deck. Whoever gets the lowest card gets to be the dealer. The dealer will shuffle the cards really well and then deal them out evenly to all the players. But here’s the twist – no one gets to see the cards they’ve been dealt. They become their own personal draw pile.
Now the player on the left side of the dealer gets to go first. Are you ready to start playing?
How to Play Schrum Schrum
So, here’s how it goes: I start by flipping the top card of my draw pile over. If it happens to be an Ace, I get to play it right at the center of the table, and that becomes the starting point for the stack. From there, I can play cards in ascending order, regardless of the suit, until I reach a King. And every time I can add a card to the stack, I just turn over the next card from my draw pile. Simple enough, right?
But, here’s the twist. Once I reach a King, I can’t just keep going. Nope! I have to switch things up by playing an Ace to start a new run. Gotta keep it interesting!
Now, what happens if I can’t play the top card from my draw pile? Well, it’s pretty straightforward. I just have to discard it to my own discard pile. No biggie!
And here’s where things get really interesting. If I happen to have a card in my hand that matches the rank of a card in my opponent’s discard pile, I can totally play it! Talk about shaking things up!
Oh, and by the way, when my draw pile runs out of cards, I don’t just give up. Nope! I just flip over my discard pile and use it as my new draw pile. But, here’s the catch – I don’t get to shuffle the cards. It’s like a second chance, but with a twist!
