PRESIDENTIAL BID
Hey there! Ever heard of Presidential Bid? Well, it’s a pretty cool auction game, also known as Mr. President. In this game, you get to bid for presidential votes. How? Well, it’s simple. You just have to play a card from your hand, and whoever plays the highest card wins the district. And guess what? The player who wins enough districts will win the region and all its precious votes. Trust me, those votes are like gold!
MATERIALS
To play Presidential Bid, you’re gonna need a standard 52 card French deck and a game board. Now, don’t worry if you don’t have a fancy game board. You can just grab three sheets of paper and quickly sketch out the spaces for the cards. Make sure they’re big enough for the cards to fit in, though. We don’t want any squeeze plays!
Hey there! Let’s dive right into this awesome game and start having some fun! You’ll see a bunch of numbers in blue circles on the game board. Those represent the number of votes each region is worth. Cool, right?
Getting Started
We need to set up the game first. Begin by separating the deck of cards into the four suits. Then, shuffle all the clubs together and put them in a face-down draw pile. Each player gets one of the remaining suits. If there are only two players, set aside the extra suit. Just so you know, in this game, 2’s are the lowest cards and Aces are the highest. Got that?
Now, let’s take a look at the game board. It’s divided into six different regions. Each region has a bunch of districts, totaling thirteen. The districts are labeled with cards from the club suit. Oh, and here’s the cool part: each region is worth a certain number of votes based on the number of districts it has. Woohoo!
As the game progresses, players will win districts and claim them by placing their cards on the district spaces. Exciting, right? So, let’s get this game started and see who comes out on top!
Game On!
When we start playing, the first thing we do is draw the top card from the club draw pile and show it to everyone. That card tells us which district is up for grabs. Then, each of us picks a card from our hand and reveals it at the same time. The person with the highest card wins the district and puts their card on that space. If there’s a tie, nobody wins the district and the club card gets placed face down on it.
We keep playing like this for thirteen rounds, bidding on different districts each time. Once all the districts have been bid on, it’s time to count up the votes and see who won.
SCORES
If I win more districts in a region than my opponents, I get the votes for that region. But what happens if there’s a tie? Well, in that case, the player with the highest card in that region wins the votes. It makes sense, right? But what if the highest cards are also the same? Then the region becomes neutral. Nobody gets those votes. It’s a bit of a bummer, but that’s how it goes.
VICTORY
The ultimate goal is to have the most votes by the end of the game. So, if you manage to achieve that, congratulations! You’ve won the election. That’s something to be proud of.
