PERICO
Hey there! Let me tell you about Perico, an exciting card game created by Steven Metzger! It’s perfect for 2 to 6 players who want to have a blast. In this game, our main goal is to build the best poker hand possible. Sounds cool, right?
So, here’s how it works. We take turns drawing and discarding cards, strategizing as we go. Once I’m satisfied with my hand, I’ll knock to let everyone know I’m done. But wait, there’s more! Each player gets one last turn before we reveal our hands. The player with the highest-ranking poker hand in that round is the winner. And guess what? The first player to win five rounds becomes the ultimate champion!
Oh, and there are some rule variations you can check out too. They add even more spice to the game!
THE CARDS & THE DEAL
To play Perico, you’ll need a standard deck of 52 cards. Don’t forget the two Jokers! Once you have everything ready, shuffle the deck and deal 5 cards to each player. The remaining cards become the stock and should be placed face down. To start the game, flip one card over to form the discard pile. Easy, right? The winner of each round becomes the dealer for the next one.
Hey there! Let’s talk about this cool game I know. It’s called Aces High and Low. It’s a fun card game where the Aces can be either high or low. One interesting rule is that you can’t use them to create a straight like Q, K, A, 2, 3. So keep that in mind when you’re aiming to win!
How to Play
The game starts with the player sitting to the left of the dealer. Each player has two phases in their turn: draw and discard.
Draw
First, you draw a card. You have two options: draw the top card from the deck or draw from the discard pile. If you choose the discard pile, you can take up to five cards.
Discard
Next, after drawing, you have to discard a card. If you drew from the deck, you just discard one card from your hand. But if you drew from the discard pile, you need to discard an equal number of different cards. For example, if you drew five cards, you have to discard five different cards. You can discard them in any order you like.
Ending the Round
So, here’s the deal. To end the round, you need to have at least five cards in the discard pile before you can knock. Just remember, you can’t knock right after you draw a card. Once you knock, your turn is done. But don’t worry, the other players still get one more turn each before the round is over.
Now, pay close attention to this. If someone gets a Royal Flush or a Five of a Kind, the round is over right then and there. That player becomes the winner. The catch is, if you have a Royal Flush or a Five of a Kind and keep playing, you automatically lose. So, be careful with those powerful hands!
JOKERS
Let’s talk about jokers. They’re wild cards that can stand in for any other card to complete your hand. After you discard a joker, the discard pile and the stock pile get mixed up again. Then, a new card is revealed to start the discard pile all over.
SCORING
When it comes to poker, the ultimate goal is to have the highest-ranking hand at the end of the round. It’s a simple concept, but the execution can be challenging. Standard poker hands are used, so you’ll want to familiarize yourself with those rankings. In the event of a tie, the player with fewer Jokers in their hand will come out victorious. But what happens if there’s still a tie? Well, then it comes down to the highest-ranking high card. So, make sure you have a good understanding of the game and its rules to increase your chances of winning!
WINNING
Now, let’s talk about how to win the game. It’s simple – be the first player to earn 5 points. That’s right, achieving 5 points will make you the victorious player. So, focus on strategizing, making smart moves, and earning those points to secure your win. Remember, every decision counts, so choose wisely and play your cards right. Good luck!
The first player to earn 5 points wins the game.
