OCEAN’S ELEVEN

Hey there! I want to tell you about this cool game called Ocean’s Eleven. It was created by Eliott Adkins and it’s a bit like poker. It’s a game for two people, and the goal is to build the best poker hand possible and make the other player give up. Sounds exciting, right? Let me explain how it works!

THE CARDS & THE DEAL

In Ocean’s Eleven, you need two 52-card decks. Each player gets one deck to use. There’s a special rule in this game: twos are wild, which means they can be any card you want them to be!

Before we start playing, each player shuffles their deck and puts it face down in front of them. Ready to go?

THE PLAY

When we start playing, we both reveal the first card from our deck. This card becomes the first card in our poker hands. Then, we compare our hands and see who has the lower-ranking hand. If that’s me, I have two choices. I can either draw another card from my deck and add it to my hand, or I can give up and concede the hand right away.

If I decide to draw another card, I’ll add it to my face-up row. Then, we compare our hands again. If I still have the lowest hand, I get to choose whether to draw another card or concede. We keep doing this until one of us decides to give up. In this game, we use the standard poker hand order to determine the winner. And if we both have the same best hand, then the next highest card breaks the tie.

As we keep playing and drawing more cards, our hands can grow beyond five cards. But don’t worry, we’ll still only use the best five cards from our face-up row to determine the winner.

When I decide to give up, I set aside the face-up cards in a pile. To keep score, I use one of my cards as a token.

We start a new round by flipping over the next card in our decks. We keep playing until one of us wins six poker hands or one of us runs out of cards. If I run out of cards first, I lose.

VICTORY

The game is won by the player who wins six poker hands first.

The one who gets to win six poker hands first is the one who will win the game.
