Morels game rules – how to play morels

Discover the World of Morel Mushrooms

When I’m exploring the woods, I can’t resist the thrill of finding Morels – the most sought-after mushrooms out there. It’s like a treasure hunt, with a tasty reward waiting for you!

Are you ready to embark on this exciting adventure? Just grab your basket, head into the woods, and start collecting these delicious mushrooms. There’s a whole world of flavors and varieties waiting to be discovered.

But collecting Morels is just the beginning. You can trade your mushrooms to expand your collection area and gather even more. Or, if you’re feeling culinary, you can cook them up and earn extra points. Every move brings you closer to victory!

Get Ready to Start

Before we dive into the action, let’s set up the game. First, take two pans from the Forest cards and set them aside. We’ll need those later. Next, shuffle the rest of the Forest cards to create the draw pile. Place this pile on one side of the playing area.

Now comes the fun part. Reveal eight cards from the draw pile and arrange them in a line between you and your opponent. These cards will shape the path to your mushroom-filled dreams.

The shoe cards are placed horizontally in front of the two cards that are farthest from the draw pile. The Night cards are shuffled and placed face down beside the draw pile. The Sticks should be placed beside these two decks.

I will start the game by collecting a Turn overview, one of the pans, three forest cards, a basket, a moon, and a fly agaric. I will arrange these items in front of me. Now, we are ready to begin!

GAMEPLAY

During my turn, I need to accomplish one of the following actions. I can take a card from the Forest, collect all cards from the decay pile, cook 3 or more mushrooms, sell 2 or more mushrooms, or put down a pan. If I am unable to complete any of these actions, you will continue until I can.

In the game, I can grab a card from the Forest. But there’s a limit to how many cards I can hold – only 8. So, sometimes I might not be able to make that move. But don’t worry, I can increase my limit by getting baskets. Each basket will add 2 more cards to my hand. Or, instead of taking a card from the Forest, I can grab all the cards from the decay pile.

Now, to cook three mushrooms, they have to be the same kind. And here’s the catch, I can only cook one type of mushroom at a time. To cook, I’ll need a pan and some mushrooms. But if I have some butter and cidre, I can earn more Flavor points. If I don’t want to cook, I can also choose to sell two identical mushrooms and get sticks instead.

Lastly, I can put down a pan on the table. This way, I can use it to cook in future turns. The game keeps going like this, with each of us taking turns and completing actions, until we collect the very last card in the Forest.

END OF GAME

Hey there! When you grab the very last card from the Forest, the game is over. Time to see who’s the mushroom-cooking champion! Let’s dive into the final tally.

First, we’re gonna count up all the Flavor points you earned from cooking those delectable mushrooms. Look below the pan symbol on each card to find the point value. Oh, and here’s a little tip: if you cooked your mushrooms under the night sky, those cards are worth double points!

But wait, there’s more! Don’t forget to include the points from the Butter and Cidre that you used to whip up those tasty fungi treats. Every little bit counts in this cooking contest!

Okay, time to reveal the winner! The player with the most Flavor Points gets the gold medal of mushroom mastery. So make sure you’ve got your counting skills honed, and may the best chef win!
