MONZA
Welcome to Monza, the exciting roll and move racing game brought to you by Haba! In this game, it’s all about strategy and luck as you roll six colorful dice to determine how your token moves along the track. But be careful, because even if you’re in the lead, you may get knocked back! The first player to cross the finish line will be crowned the winner!
CONTENTS
Let’s take a look at what you’ll find inside the box. You’ll get four racecar tokens – red, blue, green, and yellow – to choose from. There are also six multicolored dice that will add an element of surprise to each turn. The race track board is where all the action happens, and it’s accompanied by 33 cardboard tiles. These tiles include 24 accelerator tiles in six different colors, four extra-roll tiles, and one starting player tile. Don’t forget about the rulebook, which will guide you through the game!
Let’s Get Started!
Alright, to start playing the game, we need to set everything up. First, put the board right in the middle of the playing area. Now, it’s time to choose which racecar you want to use. Pick your favorite and place it on the starting line.
Next, we need to have some trophy tiles. Make sure there is one for each player, and put them close to the board. Finally, we need to decide who goes first. The youngest player gets the special starting player tile and gets to take the first turn.
THE PLAY
When it’s your turn, you’ll roll all six dice. After rolling, you need to make a path on the board for your car to follow. Just match the colors you rolled with the color spaces on the board. Try to make the path as long as you can. You might not use all the dice.
Rules for Moving Your Racecar
When you’re moving your racecar, you need to keep in mind a few important rules. First off, your car can only move forward, so no driving in reverse! You can only move onto spaces that are next to the space you’re currently on. To figure out which spaces you can move to, roll the dice and use the numbers to plan your path. You can also change lanes, but only if the space you’re moving into is further ahead in your current lane.
Watch out for the gray spaces with tire images on them—they’re blocked and off-limits. Your car can’t go on those spaces. Finally, if you end up on a space with another car, don’t worry! You can still pass through. The other car will just have to move back to the next empty spot in the same lane.
Ending the Game
When we play the game, we take turns going from left to right until one player reaches the finish line. Once this happens, we keep passing turns until everyone has had the same number of turns.
HOW TO WIN
The first person to cross the finish line is the winner. However, if more than one player manages to do so before the game ends, the player who used the fewest dice on their final turn will be declared the winner.
PROFESSIONAL RACER MODE
In this mode, each player starts with an additional roll and a set of six accelerator tiles in different colors. During the game, players can use the extra roll once. After rolling the dice, but before placing them, the player can turn in their token and reroll as many dice as they want.
Hey there! Let me tell you all about using the accelerator tiles in this game. It’s super fun, you’ll love it! So, here’s what you do: just place the accelerator tiles on the board, like you would with dice. But remember, once you use a tile, it goes back in the box. So use them wisely!
Now, here’s a cool thing. If you manage to use all six dice you rolled, you get a Turbo Roll. After you’ve used the original six dice and discarded any accelerator tiles, you can roll two more dice. How awesome is that?
During the game, at the end of each player’s turn, there’s a chance for a bonus move. Here’s how it works: if a player finishes their turn and the last played die matches the color of their car, they can move ahead one more space, as long as it’s open. Let me give you an example. Let’s say Player A ended their turn on a green space, and Player B has the green racecar. Well, Player B can move their car ahead one more space. How cool is that?
