Step into the World of Darkness
Welcome to Gother Than Thou, a captivating game where you’ll experience the thrill of betrayal and the pursuit of fame. Your goal is to accumulate twenty goth points to claim victory and bask in the glory you so desire. However, beware! As you navigate this treacherous journey, one wrong move, a crippling infection, or devastating mistakes can send you spiraling towards failure.
Preparing for the Game
At the start, one player will be the dealer, responsible for overseeing the game. The dealer shuffles the deck, ensuring that every card is in play, and then deals five cards to each player. The remaining deck is placed face down in the center, and with that, the game commences!
Scoring System
Goth Points: The ultimate prize lies in accumulating twenty goth points before anyone else. Be vigilant and strive to achieve this goal to secure victory.
Sickness: Every point of Sickness that you carry decreases your hand size. Remember, negative Sickness is not possible. If your Sickness reaches five or more, you must cast aside all the cards in your Fate pile, facing dire consequences.
Money: If you owe someone, you can’t take cards from the discard pile.
GAMEPLAY
When it’s your turn, you have a few things to do. First, you need to get rid of a card from your Fate pile. After that, you have to add one card from your hand to each player’s Fate pile, even yours. If you don’t have enough cards, you give all your cards to the players you choose.
Next, you need to draw new cards to fill up your hand. If you owe someone, you can’t get cards from the pile of discarded cards. But if you don’t owe anyone, you can take cards from either pile. Then, the player on your left takes their turn.
So here’s how the game goes – we keep playing until someone racks up twenty or more goth points. And when that happens, we have a winner! But don’t worry, as soon as one game ends, we can jump right into another one.
The Final Countdown
The game ends as soon as a player reaches twenty or more points at the end of their turn. And guess what? That player gets declared the ultimate winner!
