Donkey is an exciting game specially designed for kids that can be played using either a Rook deck or a standard 52-card deck. Get ready for some fast-paced fun!

Similar to Spoons, the objective of the game is to collect a set of four matching cards in your hand. But here’s the twist – you’ll be passing cards to the player on your left while receiving cards from the player on your right!

Let’s Get Started: The Cards & The Deal

In Donkey, we use a 56-card Rook deck. Remember to shuffle the deck thoroughly before dealing. Each player will receive their cards one at a time, but keep in mind that some players may end up with more cards than others.

Now, Let the Fun Begin: The Play

Are you ready to pass some cards? Here’s how it works: you’ll pass one card at a time to the player on your left. The catch is that you can’t pass another card until you’ve picked up the card passed to you from the player on your right. Keep the cards moving as you strategize to collect the perfect set!

So here’s the deal: all of us players keep going until we have four cards of the same kind in our hand. Once that happens, we gotta be sneaky and quietly put our cards face down and hide our hands under the table.

Now, the fun part is when everyone else notices and follows suit. They gotta be quiet too, put their cards down, and hide their hands. But here’s the catch: the very last player to notice has to jump up and run around the table like a donkey, yelling “hee haw”!
