Concordia game rules – how to play concordia

By: Dennis B. B. Taylor

Welcome to Concordia!

Concordia is an exciting game that transports you back to ancient Roman times. As a colonist, your mission is to find a new home for yourself and your people. But beware, strategic planning is key, and you must always keep an eye on your opponents’ moves. Your goal is to earn victory points by building and expanding your cities.

Let’s Get Started!

To set up the game, place the board in the center of the playing area. Next, arrange the cards beside the board, sorting them by type. On the other side of the board, separate the coins by amount. Each player should then take a player aid card. Lastly, randomly select a starting player who will receive the Praefectus Magnus card. Now, we’re ready to begin!

Time to Play!

When we play the game, we’ll take turns going clockwise around the group, starting with whoever goes first. On each turn, I’ll choose a card from my hand and do what it says. The cards I play will go into a pile called the discard pile.

Each card represents an ancient god, and each god gives rewards for different achievements. We’ll keep playing cards and doing actions until the game ends. Sometimes, I’ll be able to buy more cards to add to my hand. Once we buy the last card, the game will be over.

END OF GAME

The game ends when a player buys the last personality card or builds their fifteenth house. Before scoring, each player takes one final turn. Then, it’s time to tally up the victory points. Whoever has the most victory points wins!
