Welcome to the Challenge
Hey there! The Challenge is an awesome game that combines dominos and the card game I Doubt It. It’s super fun, so let’s dive in and give it a go! In this game, we use dice to decide which dominos should be played. Now, here’s the trick: you can either play honestly or bluff your way to victory. The goal is to get rid of all the dominos in your hand without getting caught bluffing. So, if you have a bad poker face, be careful!
Getting Started
Before we begin, let’s set up. Take all the dominoes and shuffle them nicely. Each player gets eight dominoes, and the remaining ones form the boneyard. Don’t peek at them!
Time to Play
Okay, get ready! The game starts with the first player rolling both dice. After the roll, you can choose to play one or two dominos by placing them face down in the center of the table. Remember, it’s up to you whether you want to be honest or try your luck with a clever bluff. The choice is yours!
When it comes to playing dominos, it’s important to match the roll exactly. So, if I roll a 2 and a 6, I should play the 2/6 domino.
If I want to play two dominos, I need to make sure they connect in a way that matches the roll. For example, if I roll a 2 and a 6, I can play the 2/4 and the 4/6 dominos. If I connect them to form a 2/4:4/6 train, the ends will be a 2 and a 6.
BLUFFING
I don’t have to play any dominos to the center of the table if I don’t want to. But if I don’t have any dominos that work with the dice roll, I can choose to bluff. However, I need to be careful because there’s a penalty for bluffing and getting caught.
If I don’t want to play or bluff, I simply say pass. If all players pass, the round ends and the dice are passed to the next player.
The Challenge Round
Okay, so we’ve all played our turns or passed, and now we enter the challenge round. Starting with the person who rolled the dice, they have a choice: they can either pass or accuse someone of bluffing. It’s a high-stakes moment, folks!
If the accused person really was bluffing and got caught, they have to take back the one or two dominoes they played and return them to their hand. On top of that, they must give the same number of dominoes to the player who called them out. Ouch!
But if the accused player was telling the truth, it’s the challenger who suffers. The challenger has to give up the tiles they used to make the accusation and hand them over to the accused player. It’s a real twist of fate!
Of course, if you don’t feel like gambling with accusations, you can always choose to pass. No harm done.
Oh, and one last thing – if no one challenges a set of dominos, those untouchable pieces get removed from the table and thrown into the boneyard. No peeking allowed!
So here’s how you play this game: Each player starts with a set of dominos. We keep playing until one person gets rid of all their dominos. That’s when the round ends. Oh, and by the way, we play one round for each player in the game. The player who rolls first also passes to their left at the start of each round.
SCORING
Now let’s talk about scoring. You earn points based on the number of dominos left in your hand. What you do is you add up the total number of dots on those dominos and that’s your score. Simple, right?
WINNING
Okay, last but not least: winning. The person with the fewest points at the end of the game is the winner. So, your goal is to keep that score as low as possible. Good luck!
