CAPTAIN’S LOG
Welcome, Captain! In Captain’s Log, you and your fellow players will take on the role of ship captains, each commanding a vessel filled with valuable cargo. However, be aware that danger lurks in every corner of space. Whether it’s rival captains or the perils of the cosmos, your ship will constantly face threats. Brace yourself for numerous crises, as even one misstep can result in the utter destruction of your ship, causing you to lose all your precious cargo.
SETUP
Now, let’s prepare for the adventure ahead. Each player will gather a collection of five ships and five cargo cards. Arrange these cards in front of you, placing the cargo cards in a line before you. Then, stack the ship cards on top of the corresponding cargo cards to indicate which cargo is located on each ship.
So here’s how we get this game started: we take the main deck, give it a good shuffle, and put it within our reach. Each one of us will get five cards, all facedown. The remaining cards become our draw pile. The player who has traveled the most today gets the honor of going first. And we’re ready to roll!
GAMEPLAY
When it comes to gameplay, we go clockwise around the group. It’s my turn, so here’s what I gotta do: I can complete actions in any order I want. That means playing one crisis card, playing at least one crew card, playing at least one command card, and trading cards with the others. But hey, here’s the thing — if I choose not to play any cards at all, I gotta get rid of my whole hand. Tough choice, but that’s what makes the game interesting, right?
If I reach the end of my turn and one of my ships has a crisis card attached to it, that ship is destroyed, and I lose the cargo it was carrying. After getting rid of any destroyed ships, I can draw new cards to replenish my hand of five. Then it’s time for the next player to take their turn.
Crisis cards can only be played on ships that aren’t already dealing with a crisis. If a ship has a crisis, I can use crew cards to fix the situation. Command cards can help me avoid a crisis altogether. When it comes to trading cards with other players, I can swap as many as I want, as long as we trade an equal number of cards.
The game goes on like this until one player loses all their ships in their fleet.
THE END
Hey there! So, here’s the deal. The game we’re playing is pretty simple, but it can get intense. The goal is to wipe out the other players’ fleets before they obliterate yours. Trust me, being the loser is not a title you want to hold.
When the game finally wraps up, it’s time to figure out who’s the big winner. How do we do that? Well, we look at the cargo we managed to save from ruin. Each player reveals the points on the bottom of their cargo cards. Add up those points, and the player with the highest total reigns supreme!
