Call to adventure game rules – how to play call to adventure

Welcome to the Call to Adventure

Hey there! In Call to Adventure, you get to be the hero and shape your own story. Throughout the game, you’ll have the chance to build your unique hero, using trait cards and conquering challenges to gain powerful abilities. The more challenges you face, the stronger you become. But watch out, there’s a limit to how much you can handle.

Let’s Get Started

Okay, let’s set up the game. Open the box and take out all the pieces. Sort the decks and shuffle them. Place them in the middle of the table. Now, it’s time to create your character. Each player is dealt 2 Origin cards, 2 Motivation cards, and 2 Destiny Cards. Pick your favorite from each category and keep them. The rest can be set aside.

Once the game begins, we each get dealt our Hero cards to start. We have to keep our cards hidden so no one else can sneak a peek. We also get three Experience tokens. Now it’s time to set up our playing area. We’ll put our three chosen cards on our player board. The Origin card goes on the left, face up. The Motivation card goes in the middle, also face up. And the Destiny card goes on the right, but it stays face down for now. We’ll also put the corruption tracker on the neutral space. The heroes aren’t corrupted…yet.

So, there are three decks in the middle of the table, and next to them, there’s a row of cards laid out. In a game with two or three players, four cards from each deck are placed next to it. If there are four players, then it’s five cards from each deck. Right now, all of these cards are face down, so we don’t know what they are. Each player gets their own rune tray with all of the runes in it. Now we’re ready to start playing!

Let’s Play!

Okay, during a turn, you have a choice. You can either face a Challenge or gain a Trait. If you want to get a Trait, you have to meet the requirements on the card. These Trait cards will change your character’s personality and life experiences. You put the Trait cards underneath your destiny, but only the top one is showing.

When you’re ready to take on a challenge, you’ll need to cast runes. To do this, first, check the difficulty of the challenge. Then, choose your path and gather your runes.

During your journey, you’ll have the opportunity to go on quests, use special card abilities, and play hero or antihero cards. Each of these actions has its own rules and restrictions, as stated on the cards. Once you’ve exhausted all possible actions, your turn comes to an end.

Once you’ve placed three trait or challenge cards under your act, you must end it. At this point, you won’t be able to gain any more traits or face new challenges. To proceed to the next act, you’ll need to play the next row of cards.

THE END

Hey there! Nice to meet you, I’m Ellie! I live in Northeast Tennessee and have a real passion for animals, fantasy novels, and spending time in nature. Speaking of passions, let’s talk about a cool game I know called Destiny.

So, Destiny is a game that only ends when one player collects three cards under their Destiny card. Once they reach that point, they’re done, and everyone else gets one more turn. When all the final turns are taken, it’s time to determine the winner. Now, here’s where things get interesting.

The winner is decided by tallying up different types of points. First, there are Destiny points, which each player has. Then, there are points earned from stories, unspent experience tokens, hero cards, antihero cards, and triumph or tragedy points. Phew, that’s a lot to keep track of!

Once all the points are tallied up, the player with the most Destiny points wins the game! How exciting is that?

Now that you know a little about Destiny, I hope it sparks your interest. If you’re into games with a hint of strategy and a dash of storytelling, you might just love it. Join in on the fun and become part of the awesome Destiny community!
