SETTING UP THE GAME
Arr, let’s prepare for some high-seas shenanigans! Start by placing the Treasure Map on the table, where all ye scurvy dogs can get a clear view. Shuffle the cards and deal one to each player, face down. Keep the remaining cards nearby in a tidy stack.
So here’s the deal, mateys: you can stash the box to the side, and any moolah that gets tossed aside can be chucked in there as the game goes on. Each of us starts with ten pieces of gold, and there’s some extra in the box. But hold on a sec – if there’s six of us swashbucklers, we only get eight coins each.
What Goes Down
Now, the scurvy dog with the best pirate impression goes first! We all take a gander at the symbols on our cards, keeping them hidden from the rest of the scallywags, savvy? When it’s my turn, I’ll give the Bone Dice a roll right in the middle of our play area.
Here’s how it pans out: if I roll matching symbols on both dice, that trusty ol’ Treasure Map will tell me what to do next. But if I don’t roll a pair, there are two different things that could go down, mate.
Let me tell you a little game with dice and cards. It’s called “Booty Dice,” and it’s a lot of fun!
Here’s how it works: each player has a card with icons on it. When it’s my turn to roll the dice, I want to see if the icons on the dice match the ones on my card. If they do, I have to show my card to everyone else. But here’s the catch – if the icons don’t match, someone else can claim to have the match instead. They just have to say “Gimme Yer Booty!”
If I think the other player is being honest and really has the match, I give them a Gold Coin. They show their card to everyone, and they get to keep the Gold Coin. But if I think they’re lying, I yell “Bluffaneer!” and they have to show their card. If they were telling the truth, I owe them two Gold Coins. But if they were lying and I was right, they owe me one Gold Coin.
When you reveal your card during the game, you can choose to discard it and draw a new one if you want to.
Once a player runs out of Gold Coins, the game ends. At that point, all the remaining players will count their treasure, and the player with the most Coins wins! In case of a tie, you can flip a coin and make a call for heads or tails before it lands.
Gameplay will continue in this manner until a player runs out of Gold Coins. Then, each player will count their treasure, and the player with the most Coins will be declared the winner! If there is a tie, don’t worry, just flip a coin and call heads or tails before it lands.
