BLOKUS TRIGON

Hey there! Have you heard of Blokus Trigon? It’s an awesome game that was created by Mattel back in 2008. Just like its predecessor, Trigon is all about placing your pieces strategically on the game board. The goal? Well, you want to put down as many of your pieces as possible. Sounds cool, right?

MATERIALS

So, what’s inside the box? Let me tell you. You’ll find a hexagon game board and a total of 88 colorful tiles. These tiles come in four different colors, which makes the game even more exciting. And get this, each color has different types of pieces. There are big ones with six triangles, medium ones with five, small ones with four, and even tiny ones with just two or three triangles. Plus, there’s a special piece that has a single triangle. It’s pretty neat!

Getting Started

Let’s begin by setting up the game. Take the board and place it in the middle of the playing area. You and the other players can now choose your own set of colored tiles. It might be helpful to organize the pieces based on the number of triangles each one has.

GET READY TO PLAY!

Alright, let’s dive into the game! The order in which we’ll take turns is: blue, yellow, red, and green. But wait, there’s more! On your very first turn, you’ll need to choose one of the starting positions on the board and place your game piece there.

LET’S KEEP PLAYING

Starting from the second turn, you need to make sure that every piece you place touches at least one piece of the same color. Only pieces of the same color can touch each other, but they can only touch at the corners.

Did you know that two pieces of the same color can’t touch each other side to side?

Did you know that puzzle pieces can connect in various ways? They can fit together corner-to-corner or side-by-side.

When it’s my turn to play, I can choose a piece and place it on the board. And then, it’s your turn, and you do the same. We keep taking turns until one of us can’t play any more pieces.

Ending the Game

If a player can’t place any more pieces, they’re out of the game. The rest of us keep playing until we can’t add any more pieces. The last player left gets to keep playing until they can’t play any more either.

Scoring

Afterwards, we each count the number of individual triangles on our remaining pieces. Each triangle is worth -1 point.

If you manage to place all your pieces on the board, you get 15 points. And if your last piece is the individual triangle, you get a bonus of 5 points.

Winning

The player with the highest score is the winner of the game.
