Setting Up Blind Squirrel:
Blind Squirrel is a thrilling drinking game that combines cards and dice. The game centers around guessing the outcome of card draws and dice rolls.
So, you want to play a game called Blind Squirrel? Well, grab your favorite brew, some dice, and a deck of cards, because things are about to get interesting!
First, gather all the players around a table. Make sure the alcohol is close by, because you’re going to need it!
Ready to Play?
Here’s how it works: the dealer shuffles the deck and places the top card face-up on the table.
Then, the dealer turns to the player on their right and asks them to make a guess. The guess can be one of two things:
- Will the next card be higher or lower than the first card?
- What will the exact next card be? For example, if the first card is a 6, you might say “the next card will be a king.” This means you believe the next card will be higher than 6 and specifically a king.
When you play the game, you’ll make a guess about the next card that will be revealed. If you guess wrong, whether you think the card will be higher or lower, you’ll have to take a drink. But don’t worry, it’s still your turn! On the other hand, if you guess correctly, congratulations! You get to become the dealer now. However, be careful because if you guess the exact card incorrectly, you’ll have to take sips equal to the difference between the value of the card you guessed and the one that’s shown.
The turn to make a guess passes from one player to the next around the table.
Ties
If the card that’s revealed has the same rank as the first card, and you made an incorrect guess, then you have to take a shot. But if your guess was right, it’s a different story – everyone else who’s playing has to take a shot!
The Joker
Imagine you have a deck of 54 cards and two of those cards are jokers. Let’s say you’re playing a game where you have to guess if the next card is a joker or not.
If the second card turns out to be a joker and you didn’t guess it correctly, things get interesting. You have to roll the dice not once, but twice. Whatever numbers you get on the dice, you add them up, and that’s the number of sips you have to take.
Now, let’s say you actually guessed right and predicted that the next card would be a joker. Well, you still have to roll the dice twice. But here’s the twist – everyone else, not just you, has to take sips equal to the total of both rolls combined. So you end up sharing the fun!
But what happens if the second joker shows up without being guessed? Well, in that case, you, my friend, have to shotgun a beer all by yourself. And it’s not just any beer, it’s a whole beer! But wait, there’s a twist again – if you correctly guessed that the second joker was coming, then it’s payback time. All the other players take turns shotgunning a beer, one by one, until everyone has downed their own brewski.
Once the second joker is revealed or the entire deck is used up, the game comes to an end.
