Artus game rules – how to play artus

By: Dennis B. B. Taylor

Welcome to Artus!

Hey there! In Artus, we’ll be competing to become the head of the legendary round table. But first, let me tell you how it all goes down. We start with six cards each, and that’s where the real fun begins. We have to make smart moves to score different seats on the table. And let me tell you, it’s a fierce battle to win over those neutral parties. We’ll be pulling and tugging to get more support on our side. Exciting, right? After eleven rounds, we finally crown the winner!

Getting Set Up

Alright, let’s get everything ready. Place the gameboard right in the center of our play area. Now, we need to seat the princes. Make sure their colors are opposite each other. The prince with the biggest crown, King Arthur, gets three rings. The other princes, well, they’ll settle for just one ring each.

Let’s talk about how to set up the rotating board for the game. First, make sure that the round part of the board is inside the hole in the center. Then, rotate the table until the plate with the crown is next to the king with three rings. You’ll need to use the suckling pig to make this happen. Remember, throughout the game, the board will continue to rotate along with the king.

Now, let’s move on to the point tiles. Place all of these tiles beside the board. Each player will then choose a color to represent themselves and collect their game pieces. If there are four players, they will get five knights each. If there are two or three players, they will get six knights each. Next, the players will go through their cards and keep only the knights and the kings. Separate the two piles and place them to the left and right of the players.

Finally, I’ll draw two cards from each of my piles, creating my hand. Now I’ll place my knights around the table, starting with me since I’m the oldest player. I’ll place one knight per turn until all the spots are filled. That’s when the game is ready to start!

GAMEPLAY

The game has six rounds. In each round, I’ll take my turn. During my turn, I’ll play one card from my hand, do what it says, remove the card, and draw a new one. Then the next player gets their turn after I’ve refreshed my hand.

If you’re playing this game, you have a few options. You can play a knight card and move a knight around the board. The number of spaces the knight can move is specified on the card. Or you can play a king card, and what happens next depends on which type of king card you play. There are four cards that allow you to move a prince or a king a certain number of spaces. And there are four other cards that let you add a ring to a prince from the supply.

When you move your knight, you might gain or lose points depending on where the knight started. Once you figure out your new point total, you’ll move your tracker on the points track the right amount. Moving princes works the same way, but there are no points lost or gained when you move a king. When you add a ring, you may lose or gain points depending on where the prince is.

After everyone has taken their turn and completed their action, a new round will start. The game will keep going like this, with each player taking turns, until the sixteenth round is over.

GAME OVER

The game ends after 16 rounds. Then we count our prestige points. The player with the most prestige points wins! If we tie, we both win!
