Welcome to ARTSEE!
If you’re an artsy player, ARTSEE is the game for you! Think you have an eye for what’s in style? Well, get ready to show off your skills as a gallery curator. Your job is to create the perfect experience for all your guests. As you gain more prestige, you’ll be able to showcase even more amazing artworks, drawing an even larger crowd to your gallery!
Let’s get started!
So, let’s get started with setting up the game! The first thing we need to do is separate the exhibit cards into two decks based on their borders. Make sure to shuffle each deck separately. Now, each player will receive two cards from the deck with black borders. These cards will form their gallery and should be placed face up in front of them. Each player will also receive three cards from the same deck, but these should be kept hidden from the other players. You can put the remaining deck back in the box.
Next, shuffle the deck with the black border again and divide it into two draw piles, placing them face down in the middle of the table. Now, let’s organize the masterpiece tokens by category and arrange them in numerical order. Finally, place the prestige tokens to the side to create the general supply.
When we play this game, we each get a certain number of visitor pawns, depending on how many players there are. For example, if there are two players, we each start with five visitors. If there are three players, we start with seven visitors. Four players get eight visitors, and if there are five players, we start with nine visitors. The player who has seen the most famous art piece goes first, and then we can start playing!
Here’s how the gameplay works:
We take turns playing the game, starting with the first player and going around the group in a clockwise direction. On our turn, we do a few different things. First, we play a card. Then, we welcome visitors, earn prestige points, and claim a masterpiece. Finally, we draw a new card. Once we finish our turn, it’s the next player’s turn to play.
So, here’s how a game of cards works: First, I’ll choose a card from my hand and put it in my gallery. I can either add it to an existing column or start a whole new one. Then, we’ll compare our cards, and if I have an exhibit card that matches in some categories, I can put a visitor on it. This earns me points by counting the visitors and the art pieces that match the featured category.
If I’ve earned enough points and meet the requirements, I can claim a masterpiece. Once I’ve done that, I have to find an empty spot in my gallery to place it. Oh, and immediately after claiming a masterpiece, I need to draw a new card. And that’s the end of my turn!
The game will continue in this way until any of the end game conditions are met!
END OF GAME
The game ends when the draw piles run out and all players have empty hands. In the final scoring, players earn prestige points based on the masterpieces found in their gallery. They also get additional points for the number of masterpieces they have: one earns one point, two earns three points, three earns six points, and four earns ten points.
Afterwards, players tally their prestige points. The player with the most points wins the game!
