ARIMAA

Hey there! In Arimaa, we have some pretty cool animals like elephants and camels. And guess what? These stronger animals can actually push and pull the weaker ones around! They can even push them into traps. Sneaky, right? So here’s the deal – when you play Arimaa, you have to defend yourself from your opponent’s attacks while also trying to sneak your rabbit past them. Sounds easy, huh? Well, think again! Mastering this game can take a lifetime of practice. Each player takes turns moving their pieces while the other watches closely. The goal? Get your rabbits to the other side of the board without losing them all! Ready to give it a try?

SETUP

So, here’s the deal: I start with an empty 8×8 board. Now, it’s my turn to place my gold pieces and I can do it any way I want. No set starting positions, just my creativity at work. Then, it’s your turn with your silver game pieces. Again, no restrictions, you can place them wherever you please. And just like that, we’re ready to get this game started!

Let the Games Begin!

Alright, it’s my move with the gold pieces – time to take the lead! I can move them right, left, forward, or backward. And get this: I can move them four steps during my turn! I can either move one piece four spaces or spread out my moves among multiple pieces. The choice is mine!

In this game, you can choose to skip steps, but you have to make at least one move on your turn. It’s important to remember that stronger game pieces can move weaker ones. The order of strength, from highest to lowest, is elephant, camel, horse, dog, cat, and rabbit. Rabbits can’t move backwards on their own, but they can be pushed or pulled.

When you push or pull a piece, it takes two steps. If you’re pushing something, you can’t pull at the same time. If a weaker piece is next to a stronger piece from the opponent, it can’t move unless it’s pushed or pulled. But if a friendly piece is next to it, then it can move freely.

The game continues like this, with both players taking turns, until one player moves all their rabbits to the other side or loses all their rabbits.

END OF GAME

The game ends when a player either moves all their rabbits to the other side or loses all their rabbits. If you’re able to move all your rabbits, you win. But if you lose all your rabbits, you lose the game.
