ARCTIC SCAVENGERS

Welcome to a frozen world. It’s the year 2097, and most people are gone. The survivors have banded together to keep going. As the leader of a tribe, you’ll battle other tribes for survival. It’s a fight for resources, land, and the lives of your people. In this new world, information is priceless. It can mean the difference between life and death. If you’re ready to survive, let’s get started!

SETUP

To begin, you’ll get four refugee cards, three scavenger cards, one shovel card, one spear card, and one brawler card. These make up your starter deck. The rest of the refugee cards are taken out. The remaining cards are divided into three groups: mercenaries, junkyard, and contested resources.

So, in this game, we have these two types of cards: contested resource cards and junkyard cards. They are shuffled separately and placed on their specific spots on the mats. The rest of the cards are called mercenaries, and they are divided into eight stacks based on their type. These stacks are placed near the game board, facing up.

Now, let’s talk about what each player does at the beginning of the game. First, we shuffle our decks and place them face down in front of us. Then, we randomly choose a player to be the initiator. And that’s it! We’re all set to start playing!

GAMEPLAY

The game consists of three phases that we must play in the right order.

Phase 1

This is the part where we get rid of all our cards. Each player discards their entire hand. After that, we each draw five new cards from our decks. If our deck is empty, we can shuffle our discard pile and use it as our new deck. That way, we never run out of cards!

Phase 2

During this round, we’ll gather resources. I’ll be the Initiator and I’ll go first, using my cards to gather resources. Afterward, I’ll let you know how many cards are available for the skirmish.

Then, it’s your turn. We’ll go around the group in a clockwise direction, and each player will do the same thing.

You have a few options to choose from: digging, hunting, and hiring. The best part is, you can do as many actions as you want during this phase! Just remember, you can’t repeat any action.

When you choose to dig, you’ll collect cards from the junkyard. If you decide to hire, you can use your food and medicine to bring skilled mercenaries into our tribe. And if you’re up for it, you can go hunting to gather some food.

Phase 3

After you finish gathering resources, it’s time to reveal your cards for the skirmish. We compare the total fight value of all the cards, and the player with the highest score wins the skirmish. The victorious player gets to take the top card from the resource stack and add it to their discard pile.

Next, the player to the left of the Initiator gets to collect the initiator card, and a new round begins. This cycle continues until there are no more contested resource cards left.

The Game’s Conclusion

Once a resource card has been won, the game ends. To determine the winner, players count the tribe member icons in their decks to see who has the biggest tribe. The player with the largest tribe emerges victorious!
