To start the game, each player chooses a color and places their marbles in their respective home spaces. The game board consists of a circular track with spaces numbered from 1 to 61. Each player takes turns rolling the dice and moving their marbles clockwise around the track.
One of the unique features of Aggravation is the ability to “aggravate” your opponents by landing on their marbles. When this happens, their marbles are sent back to their home space, delaying their progress. However, be careful not to aggravate your own marbles!
Throughout the game, players must strategize their moves, deciding whether to move one marble a long distance or multiple marbles shorter distances. Additionally, players can strategically block their opponents’ paths to hinder their progress.
As you navigate the board, you may encounter shortcuts, known as “aggravation spaces,” which allow you to move your marbles ahead. These spaces can give you a significant advantage, so keep an eye out for them!

Game Setup
To set up the Aggravation board game, follow these steps:
- Place the game board in the center of the playing area.
- Each player chooses a color and takes the corresponding set of colored marbles.
- Place the marbles in the starting positions on the board, according to the player’s color.
- Each player rolls the dice to determine who goes first. The player with the highest roll goes first, and play proceeds clockwise.
Once the game is set up, players are ready to begin playing Aggravation!
Gameplay
Aggravation is a board game that is played by two to six players. The objective of the game is to be the first player to move all of their marbles around the board and into their home space.
To start the game, each player chooses a color and places their marbles in their corresponding starting spaces. The game board consists of a circular track with spaces numbered from 1 to 59. The center of the board is the home space for each player.
Players take turns rolling a six-sided die and moving their marbles clockwise around the board. The number rolled on the die determines how many spaces a player can move. If a player rolls a 6, they can roll again and take another turn.
If a player’s marble lands on a space occupied by another player’s marble, the occupying marble is sent back to its starting space. This is known as “aggravating” another player. However, a player cannot aggravate their own marbles.
If a player’s marble lands on a space with a colored arrow, they can take a shortcut and move to the corresponding arrow space of the same color. This allows players to bypass certain sections of the board.
Once a player has moved all of their marbles into their home space, they must continue to roll the exact number needed to move their marbles off the board. If a player rolls a number higher than the number of spaces remaining, they must move their marble backwards until they can move it off the board.
The first player to successfully move all of their marbles off the board and into their home space wins the game.
Winning the Game
The objective of Aggravation is to be the first player to move all of your marbles from your start area to your home area. To do this, you must roll the exact number needed to move your marble into your home area. If you roll a higher number, you must move your marble into your home area and then back out again, following the path of the game board.
Once you have moved all of your marbles into your home area, you must continue to roll the exact number needed to move your marbles out of your home area and into the center of the game board. The first player to move all of their marbles out of their home area and into the center of the game board wins the game.
If two or more players reach the center of the game board on the same turn, the player with the highest number rolled wins the game. If there is a tie, those players continue to roll until there is a clear winner.
