When you play TITAN, the length of the game depends on how many people are playing and their skill levels. It can be a real marathon!

But what if you don’t have time to finish the game? Well, no worries! You can still determine a winner.

Just add up each player’s score and the total value of their remaining Legions. Make sure to reveal each Legion as you count them.

The player with the highest total wins. Easy peasy!

Now, if you need to take a break and come back to the game later, no problem. Just show each of your Legions to the scorekeeper and they’ll record what’s in them and where they are on the map.

But maybe you know you won’t have time for a full game. That’s okay too! You can make a few adjustments to speed things up:

  • The easiest way to make the game shorter is to set a time limit. Before starting, you decide on a specific amount of time to play, and when that time is up, you add up all of your points and the value of your Legions. The person with the highest score wins.
  • Another way to play a shorter game without using a time limit is to aim for a certain number of points. Whoever reaches or surpasses that number at the end of a turn wins the game. If multiple players reach the target in the same turn, the player with the most points wins.

If there are 3-4 players who know the rules, a point total of 300 usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes to finish.

If there are 5-6 players, 300 points usually takes about 75-100 minutes.

When you’re playing games like Masterplay and Battle, sometimes you might want to add an extra challenge and limit the time you have to make your moves. This can make the game more exciting and test your skills.

For example, you could set a rule that each player only has three minutes to complete their Movement Phase on the Masterboard. If you don’t move any of your Legions within that time, you’ll have to randomly decide which one will move.

In Battle, you can also add a time limit. Each player has one minute to move their characters during the Maneuver Phase (except for the first phase, where each player gets two minutes). If a character doesn’t make it onto the Battle-land within the time limit, they’re out of the game. These time constraints can be challenging for players with a lot of Legions or less experience, but they help improve strategic thinking.

Titan Variant

If you want to make the game shorter, there’s a version where we get rid of some creatures. In this variant, we remove Centaurs, Gargoyles, and Ogres. Instead, each player starts with two Cyclops, two Lions, and two Trolls. These three creatures are now considered Tower Creatures.

Also, we can only use eight Legion Markers instead of the usual twelve, unless we eliminate another Titan. If we do, we gain the use of his eight markers. This variant takes away some of the interesting strategy in the beginning of the game, but it keeps the exciting battles with the more powerful creatures towards the end.
