Here Comes the Twist: Revenge of the Teams!

Okay, if you have more than 8 players or some folks who struggle with quick thinking, the “Revenge of the Teams” variant might be perfect for you. You can divide everyone into teams or mix things up with a combination of teams and individual players.

Now, here’s how it works: instead of dealing cards to individual players, you deal them to the teams. Let’s say you have 2 teams and 3 single players. In that case, you would deal the cards as if you were playing with 5 players. Cool, right? Now here comes the cherry on top – choose one player from each team to be the team leader.

Every time we take turns being the Judge, I switch the team leader role to a different team member. If we’re divided on which Prompt to read or which response should win, I make the final decision.

In this version, the judge still gives the winning response a card, but now it’s worth 2 points. On top of that, the judge can also give out 3 additional points to any responses they choose, including giving more or even all of them to the original winning response.

If there are 7 or fewer players, we use a spare whiteboard to keep track of the extra points. In games with 8 players, we can use paper and pencil or a scoring app.

Here’s how it works: Instead of reading a prompt from a card, each player can start a special round called “caption this.” They’ll choose five picture cards and pick one for everyone else to write a caption for.

Once all the captions are in, the player who started the round gets to pick their favorite. And here’s the exciting part: the winning player earns one of the cards they were dealt at the beginning of the game. It’s a cool twist, isn’t it?
